970 all the way, definitely my next card with that price/performance point.

Hilbert, please...an SLI review 🙂 I'm 99,9% sure to pick two of these babies up from a local store but don't want my PC to turn into a furnace.

Yes.

Yes, should be. From what I can see MSI has released three types of the 970.. the Gaming, the OC and the Classic.
Thanks. Just ordered 2 of these for delivery tomorrow. Can't wait!

I really do think I did the right thing with 970 vs 980. There is only a few frames per second difference between the two. The price difference is something else though... It was obvious to go with the 970 especially as this is an overclocked card too with plenty of leg room for extra OC. To think only last week I was gonna buy 1 780ti for 550 and now I get 2 970's for the same money! hahaaa! Glad I waited. The extra RAM too with 1440p...

Mine goes to 1500/8000 no problem. Haven't tried going higher, that was always going to be my oc target with this card. Enjoy. And yes, the 970 is extremely good value.

Good to know! How's BF4 on the card?

Wow nice card and prices awesome. I was all set for a nice custom 980, but seeing the price on these babies i may just get one of these and sit on the fence for a few months, then have the option of a 980ti version later (if it comes) or sli the 970. Hmmmm decisions....

that's what I did. I was ready to buy the 980, but seeing how much the 970 is cheaper by, it was a no brainer. If I need more power in the future, I'll sli them. 970 sli will be enough for 1440p for ages.

I am thinking of doing the same thing. I have 2 GTX680 FTW 4GB and I am thinking of SLI GTX 970 for the awesome prices. I am done spending over $500 for a single card. The price/performance ratio is outstanding for the GTX 970. About time they came back out with 4GB of memory. I was not going to upgrade until they did. I have no plans to go 4K right now on my computer, especially with downsampling available on the GTX 970. Now, all I need is an awesome 120Hz 1440P IPS monitor and will be off to the races. My Crossover is doing fine less only being 60Hz. Good Times!

Yeah the value in these cards is immense. Im hoping a oc'd 970 to the region on 1500mhz is going to be abit faster than my 780 is at 1200mhz, but it sure will be less power hungry and has more vram, so if i can sell this 780 for the region of £200 i'll be happy.

Interesting ive seen a few people mention this now as a potential unique selling point with these new cards. But in reality downsampling with an nVidia card has been very very easy for a long time now by just setting up custom resolutions and setting scaling to the gpu. Then choosing these ingame. I guess this is nVidia's attempt to bring it to the masses though

970 at 1525 (1500 mostly) vs 780 at near 1300, the 970 wins in fire strike by some 2000 graphics points. In 3Dmark11 they're pretty equal though.

Damn this is a nice card indeed. Hilbert, I assume you'll be doing the 980 Gaming review as well?
