As always, the lightnings are great looking cards. These go so well with the Mpower mobos especially if you have a see-through side panel.

Easily the best looking card I've seen in a long time! Too bad you can't judge a book by its' cover...

Yay Msi... another let down of promises that you dont deliver on or take 40 years?... bought 3 of the 780 lightnings after the whole charade of waiting/PR stuff they did.. Wasn't really that surprised by them, especially since since I had to use a "Non-approved/Non-MSI" user's bios he spent his time doing instead of them... Not to mention they weren't cherry picked even though the price was higher then every other card and was outperformed by at least 2 of them.Still haven't looked to see if they released the 300% limit bios they said they would.. I returned them all, just before they hit 500-550$ as well... Good call imo.. We'll see if they deliver this time... Or I'll just shoot for Kingpin's card (slightly fugly, but its whats inside that counts right? ;P ) *Don't get me wrong they are sturdy cards etc, but if your looking @ these you may want to check out the MSI 780 Lightning (Non-TI) forums with alot of the people complaining for quite a long time about them. Of courrse give some leniency to personal stupidity and the unknowing, but it may shed some light for you on these perhaps.

So you were 'personally stupid' or 'unknowing' before you bought the 780's? Not sure what your driving at? Bad experience and now all their cards are crap or what?

What slightly annoys me is that these cards are not binned, I mean it's a shame for the fancy pcb and cooling to not use the best possible chips to achieve greater OC especially since you already pay a premium price.

When I went SLI with my 780's I waited out for 2 780 lightnings what a joke that was lol....anyways short story is I get everything from microcenter/newegg....so I waited for microcenter to get the lightning in as I have a buddy that works there so I got a call right away. Picked up 2 of them and wow they both overclocked like complete garbage....one of them even ran about 5c hotter no matter being on top or bottom...sound was good and cooling was good but they both overclocked like garbage.... To makes things worse I returned them right away picked up 2 evga gtx 780 SC models and they bothed overclocked way better than the lightnings...I was able to achieve 1320 on both evgas...lightnigs would only do 1260ish with modded bios lol they def. look cool but for the price tag increase naw...:3eyes:

Looks like a good card, interested to see what the price tag will be here in Aus.

bad experiences!!

Well this card looks cool reviews gonna be interesting (a 780Ti preclocked lineup would be pro since you guys also already reviewed other brands).

So you overclocked, modded BIOS then returned it ? WTF :3eyes: lol Didn't know that was possible. Also like Illnino says overclock is never guarantee just like CPUs I was soo disapointed when I started overclocking my HD5870 RAM doesn't OC at all without crashing and then the core I think max I did would be +40 mhz.. and even then after some testing started to get coil whining, like geez.. SO in my eyes your first OC was already epic, then the second, UBER badazz, lol. And on the box it says "Overclocking ready" or something like that, what a joke lol. I ended up putting stock speeds again :bang:, got pissed.

lol I get everything at microcenter....do they ask if u modded the bios hell no lol they wont sell the card anyways as no one will buy used gpu's at that caliber...my buddy works their he said most of the time they sit and get sent back or they get snagged by employess etc.... same with cpu's so many people return pefrctly heathly 3770l,3570k, 4670k, etc because they don't overclock well...he told me once how many 4670ks they had returned in a one month span and it was crazy you wouldn't even believe lol anyways was just stating the price increase on these cards for cooler and custom pcb...seems high unless ou plan on doing ln2 etc

Lol not sure how to take those comments.. No, I did overly research everything with PC's in general, mostly parts. I'm directly referring to their 780 lightning as this is a 780 TI lightning, I never stated all their product were bad due to all of what happenend etc. I was full aware of the details that were available @ they weirdly postponed-ish launch etc but that didnt excuse the rest, or what led up to it, especially with no MSI replies about it to anyone really. Like I said feel free to stop by the 780 lightning thread and see how much people were really peeved by lots of things with these cards. I loved them soon as I saw them, but MSI ruined the whole experience for many. Does it mean they will again here? No of course not, but comparing the experience with thee 780 lightning is a good idea.

Yea mine we're the same way, I forgot to remove the bios from the good man that made them for everyone, but they took them anyway. I didnt LN2 or WC them at all of course.

Dual 8 pin power is good. Gold plated video connections, though they mean nothing in a digital world, looks nice. Can't say I like all the LEDs on it though.

Um you lucky to have a shop like this, what excuse you bring when it overclocks bad ?? just say it doesn't work or something, I bet here they would probably test it and tell me that the CPU works perfectly lol
