Microsoft's fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30. Their press release will be on July 20th. What may be announced Friday is a precursor to this. They did not hit the mark they were hoping for is what it sounds like.

Let's just hope they're not from QA again.

I can't believe it!
A company so much devoted to the poor people around the world (hundreds of donations to charities, hospitals, orphanages....each year)... And now, all of a sudden, thousands of people will be made jobless, with their children and other dependents... Poor BigBadBilll must have been starving for the last couple of years when he was forced to make such a dramatic move...

Unfortunately I suspect they wont begin on the store.

Perhaps the X1X is quite the heavy investment for them, figure they better restructure in case it doesn't sell as well as they hope. I don't think Surface 3 sold as much as they hoped either.

Wasn't there a story (or a fact?) about win10 being the last iteration of windows? and microsoft building on top of this for the future? what is their business plan from now on?
Microsoft Office and professional only? I wonder

Perhaps they are furthering their policy of not testing anything before release which needs less staff.
But maybe, just maybe, they will realise where they need to make some effort at last which might prevent further layoffs.
Haha, what am I on.

So...they are concerned about Amazon, and have just given them some of the best trained staff in the tech industry...because that's where I would go.

This is why you need to stick to Windows 11 £100 Windows 12 £100 Windows 13 £100. You can't just rely on a free/cheap £10 OS forever! Go back to the oldskool way or we might lose our decades old computing buddy. I spend £2000 a year on my PC do you know how many chips I had to bench to get a 1.25v one! so I do not mind £100 every 2 years for a full review and restart of all OS coding.

People, it's a reorganization. That doesn't mean they are losing money and are forced to get rid of staff. The industry is changing and they are focusing their resources on other areas.

Bill Gates isn't the one making these decisions. He's not the one actually running Microsoft and hasn't been for quite a few years now.
Bill Gates returned to Microsoft part time a while back. He's a technology adviser now.
