Uninstalled their iOS apps and removed it from the explorer tree, I don't have patience for bait-and-switch. From 30GB to 5GB ... laughable.

Good, no one needs that POS
Really? How do you figure?

2$/month for 50 Gb is more expensive than a SSD.
Cloud storage is different than an SSD. You may not always have the SSD with you, where as cloud storage as long as you have an internet connection you have it with you anywhere you go. There are strengths and weakness' to both, you you can't really compare the two.

Well they shouldn't of used a "selling point" word like Unlimited, which of course they did use to obviously garner copious amounts of trusting MS supporters to jump on board the OneDrive train. The word Unlimited works very well, i picked my ISP because of that one word but i also knew that with my isp Unlimited means about 400gb a month every month because once you start going above 400gb my isp sends out a lovely fair use policy warning letter. I'm ok with that as i only use about 100gb a month on a slow normal month and maybe 300+gb sometimes if i buy a few big games or have to reinstall my Steam account. So yea be weary of the word Unlimited and always read the small print. MS should of had a much better fup in place but like i said the word unlimited is only used to get you in then they go from unlimited to 5gb.lol. How big is your 1D? 🙂

All they had to do was to drop the unlimited accounts and revamp their numbers for measured, limited accounts. Why they decided to drop the 15GB storage to 5GB is beyond me, as they shouldn't have offered it in the first place if they couldn't handle it. But, anyway, I wasn't a customer--I do all of my storage locally and I recommend that to everyone. With 1000 GB drives going for $50 these days (7200 rpm WD Blue, etc.), 15GB or 5GB in One Drive--either one--is not a lot. I let One Drive back up a few things in my Documents folders and that's it--in addition to my two-pronged local backup program. So I can take or leave One Drive--not a critical matter. If the Internet goes down because of hackers or terrorists or, Lord forbid, war, I want my data right where I can both see it and control it.

No different from Google who tries to track your entire life and sell it to marketing companies.
Google is no excuse for Creepysoft. Google does not runs my PC OS. Google cannot install software or an entire OS without my permission. Google does not have unlimited access to my camera, microphone and files.

Cloud storage is different than an SSD.
It is cheaper, due to scale. Charging more than a SSD per gigabyte.time is ripping off the user.
You may not always have the SSD with you,
You may not always have the device you use to access the cloud. You will not always have access to the cloud. Any device capable of access the cloud is also capable of holding a SSD. Storing your data in your own NAS connected to Internet is safer and cheaper than any Creepysoft cloud service. It is only subject to your own policies.

I've made a mathematical equation...

Cloud primarily exist for the business world, while a personal NAS would be an awesome idea you do not always have that choice in a business. Think of it like this. We use Google drive, we pay $1 per account for pretty much most google services. This includes unlimited mailbox, exchange support, unlimited drive, and all licensing for office apps in Google. That's a pretty good deal. We looked into building our own NAS server for everyone. And we have a small one that is limited to 5gb per person due to power, and budget restraints. What if the NAS fails? We also have to have an open connection to the outside which is a big risk for public agencies.

Lots of negativity around this, why punish those who did nothing wrong? I hope they change their minds around the 15GB > 5GB limit. However I quite like OneDrive. I use it to synchronise music from my PC to my tablet, I have a shared folder with my other half to share photo's and it's of course used to backup my Windows Phone settings etc. One thing I can't understand is why you would want to stash all your movies their anyways when HDD's are so cheap these days or backup so much data? Who on earth has that fast of an upload rate any ways to store 75TB? Businesses ruining a perfectly good service for proper customers. I currently have 30GB, it'll be interesting to see what Microsoft does with that or whether if they'll change their minds.

How long would it take to UPLOAD 75 terabytes of data from a local machine up to OneDrive over an internet connection and how the hell did the internet service provider not give out stink to them??? - that's huge amount!! Also consider how much it costs to buy a consumer 4Tb drive. Now consider a 4Tb ENTERPRISE drive. Now consider the required ENTERPRISE BACKUP STORAGE for this 4Tb. Now how many of these to store 75Tb x 2 = 150Tb. That's about 40 drives. Now consider the cost of the RACK MOUNTED STORAGE SERVER to hold these 40 drives. And then the costs from hosting and transfer data costs! Microsoft were right and no option but to get rid of this option. They probably assumed nobody would take so much space. Once again, someone takes the piss and everyone else suffers.

I'm glad they've seen the light here by not punishing those with the 15GB/30GB options. But nonetheless...BURN THOSE WHO ABUSED IT. BUURRRRNNNNN!!!

Opting into the following link will allow you to keep your onedrive storage capacity after they neuter it in 2016. http://aka.ms/onedrivestorage
Thanks for the link man, I actually use OneDrive almost daily for easy transfer of small files. I could make do with only 5gb, but keeping the 15gb limit is much better for me. *I do local backups too, but they are suspect to fire, robbery, spaceships landing on my roof etc.... having some pics and docs in the cloud gives my wife and I peace of mind if nothing else. :infinity:
