I hope they cut the unnecessary crap when you go with the Pro version / LTSC or what it will be called. Stuff like the dialogue if you don't want to keep Edge as your default browser is lost code which they could have easily used to make it easier to change user settings. This is probably a deliberate choice of executives to annoy people and increase Edge's market share by 0.1%.

To my knowledge this "feature" is also present in the most recent builds of Windows 10, so it's not exclusive to Windows 11.
It's there in Pro.

problably cause they change ui again and half assed it some more, considering UI in Win 10 is still note complete consistent across the board 🙄

The separation of browser per type of page is a smart thing for pro (from my point, as i have already done that since long time).
2nd point: don't charge M$, it is as simple to change the browser than it was on W10...
I don't get the drama about "how hard is to change browser in W11" it's just some few click and it's done.

Imagine working at a high level in MS, waking up one day thinking "hmm, y'know what we really need? Another lawsuit for anticompetitive practices!"

God I hate MICROSOFT more than APPLE now.

Surprised at this, esp since they were sued by the EU many years ago for an even less egregious act. They were fined $730 million for not offering or "promoting" alternate choices of browser for EU users. I guess they will have to deploy different versions of W11 for different regions.

this must be why they are using the Chrome engine. It's technically not MS software anymore.

Why do bears sh1t in the woods? as Tyrion Lannister asked?
Why Microsoft does that? Just because they think their deep integrated browser is what you all ever need and that's that.
You don't get Windows and ask for freedom. There is a trade-off. You use Windows, as they intended, everything kinda works, get productive and at the end of your office shift just call it a day.
It's an oversimplification, but not far from reality.
Want to do things differently? That's another story.

Oh well, not a problem for me, i actuallly switched from Google Chrome to Edge when they switched to the chromium engine. I feel its very snappy and all my addons from chrome works fine too
