M$ better prepare desktop version of Win10 without malware, bloatware and spyware by then to successfully replace Win7.

Well at least they are not just dropping support for it, and they have given given plenty of time and advance warning about these OS coming to the end of their support life.

I first regretted stepping up to Win10, but after a while and after some reading into stuff it isn't THIS difficult to configure.
Remember when Win7 came out and they "discovered" the "MP3 bug" during BETA? Specifically ALL MP3 files went corrupt after running Win7 BETA? Users were soooooo angry and told everyone Win7 is going to be sh!t, better stick to WinXP, bring SP4 for XP and it's going to be as good as 7 (and MUCH MUCH more ...), remember this?
It's going to be (or it already IS) exactly the same with the upgrade to Win10, but the bugs have changed.
Do you know what never changes?
War ... war never changes ...
(sorry, couldn't help myself 😀)

My gaming PC is still on 7. I haven't been playing it much this year (new job - very busy). I was just thinking this weekend I need to backup, format, and upgrade.

Still working pretty happily on Win 7 (i haven't updated it one time since install), my laptop uses 8.1 which is my favorite windows (just use start 8 and turn off telemetry), in a server at home i have win 10 and had used it on work, it is OK but the update thing (it updates the machine whenever it want and even reboot it) just drive me nuts..

Happy with Win 10, it's as good as Win 7 if not better.
I wonder how many of those Win 10 crybabies will move to Linux... oh that's right... none.

Windows 7 was released in 2009. It will reach EOL in 2020. That's 11 years.
I've been using Linux for a long time and find it funny that people think switching to Linux will give them a support period longer than 11 years... Go download Ubuntu 9.04 from 2009. See how well that works for you.
If you go Linux and don't like to install a new OS version every year, you'd need to use a rolling release distro like Arch. But if you're a new Linux user and don't know yet what you're doing, it's not gonna work out that well.
Microsoft provides the longest support out of ANY desktop operating system vendor out there.

I've said this what feels like a 1000 times. If you are willing to spend a bit of time and effort into Win10 then like me you basically have Win7 with DX12. Win10 once doctored is the best OS i've ever seen so far.
You don't even have to do much since there's already programs out there that return Win10 to what ever flavor you like. With a few clicks i can turn my OS to XP win7 win8 or back to 10.
My current set up reads..> Visual style: Aero 8 menu + Windows 10 taskbar + win7_54.bmp button.
