They are just trolling. If they don't keep that junk free , who is even going to consider using it .

Now if they could only fix problems with taskbar and startmeny dying off.

i'm still crying over win 7. Have to use win 10 for cpu simplicity all them fudge privacy buttons you go through, the over menu, over a menu to make things harder to find. Win 7 now seems the most logical layout i have ever used Ignorance is a blessing - win 10 to most will give no despair, they not know what goes on in the background 😀

I'm still in a wake up state... I thought 1709 was going to be the last free update.

This is about upgrading from W7 and 8, future W10 Updates are still going to be free, for now.

Already upgraded all my computers. To those on the fence, grab it while you can - like it or not, Windows 10 is the future.

You can 'un-crap' Windows 10. This is my image test system with a fresh install that was modified with MSMG toolkit and a few service tweaks. https://i.imgur.com/bMcSi0A.jpg

I'll wait till the next Windows, if there is one... W7 is doing fine for me...

I didn't upgrade, bought the home version when it released. Great OS though I still don't care for the registry system.

Or you can just disable everything you don't want. You don't run into the headaches later on, forcing you to redo your image and reinstall. *this is the part where you inform me of how you've been using Nlite/Ntlite/winreducer/Xplite..etc for years and never once encounterd a single issue.* Except I've heard it all before and I really don't care about that BS. It's like scaling a building instead of using a ladder, again it's just easier to disable. Tons of apps to disable all telemetry, Cortana or whatever you want.

As long as you only install un-crapped versions of new builds there is no issue at all. If you install full RS4 over modified RS3 I am not sure why anyone would think that will be perfect. I installed modified RS3 over modified RS2, no issues. Another thing I don't get is why so many novices get into modifying their OS, it gives the process a bad name. My image is complete with all updates and all drivers, updated regularly. I install it from a USB3 flash drive onto a system with a 960 pro OS dive. A complete reinstall takes about 7 minutes. and another 5 to change a few settings. If you are installing from a crappy old flash drive onto a platter based OS drive I have no idea why you are messing with modified images. BTW, its MSMG toolkit, I have heard bad stuff about the other tools.

I recently upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 8.1 on one of my family member's laptop. It had downgraded to Windows 10 automatically (months ago, when M$ did that kind of stuff), so I backed up all the info, erased the OS, and did a clean Windows 8.1 again. Now it works like a charm again.

LOL, Windows 8(.1) is by far the worst Windows OS I have ever used - I would rather cut out my liver with a rusty knife than go back to that junk. There are always people who cling to an old OS (happened with Windows 7 vs XP as well) but Microsoft will eventually end support for it, and when they do you will be forced to upgrade at your own cost. Microsoft has also indicated that this will be the last version of Windows so might as well get used to it if (and learn to circumvent the privacy stuff, if that bothers you).

Yes, Windows 8.1 is a bit ugly, but it's surprisingly stable and fast. It has a lot of W10's goodies, but without most of the things that make W10 horrible. It also has W7's stability and update control, which some of us appreciate. If you look past the looks, W8.1 is actually a great OS.

Not sure you're talking about W8 or W8.1 but imho W8.1 is great OS here on my side and I don't give a crap about what some people are saying about it. Almost all of my rigs at home (and few office PCs), doesn't matter if it's a gaming PC or HTPC (except gaming PC of my daughter, she still refuses to let go Win7 SP1 64bit, she's afraid to lose all af here games in Steam library lol), are running on W8.1 Pro 64bit for few years now and NOT A SINGLE ISSUE with those and I'm not talking about one or two PCs: it's dozen of PCs just in my home running W8.1 64bit.. It's fast, stable, I have compete control over the OS, stupid Start meny is replaced with Classic Shell... Couldn't be happier. Honestly if W10 could work stable and bug free like W8.1 is running here on my side atm I would switch instantly to W10. Sad thing is that I saw way too many issues with W10 on PCs of my friends, relatives, clients... and I don't want to go through the same issueslike they were. Eventually one day I'm gonna switch from W8.1 to W10, probably gaming PCs are going to get W10 first but for now I'm really not interested in W10: W8.1 is doing it's job more than fine for me. Btw, all of those PCs above I'm talking about are registered for W10 Pro 64bit digital licence a while ago to make sure I could switch to W10 one day when needed.

^^^ Couldn't agree more, except that one you're sayin' it's ugly.
