Microsoft's Security blog states the exploit could in theory be used to allow for a "remote code execution if users browse to a malicious website with an affected browser." Computerworld.... Microsoft confirms exploit in Internet Explorer 8
Using IE9 here...

So, it mainly affects WinXP users. I can almost hear IT Support banging their heads against the helpdesks in offices everywhere.

This, lol. Using neither IE8 or 9. Currently a proud user of Firefox. :P

Did try FF for a while, but got tired of having to install a new version every day.

Bit of an exaggeration :P Although its better to have security flaws fixed rapidly imo. Updates that arent security related dont need to be installed. FF also has great tools to make the browser more secure. I havent used IE on my home PC for a decade I reckon.

You can choose to not install updates. I use FF and ignore the new releases for about a week or so making sure there are no bugs.

Same here, only use IE to make sure a site I'm working on has no code issues with IE.

Even FF has it's security flaws. Just like none of the Virusscanners are 100% virus proof. But i think it's a fanboyism thing, just like i hate AMD 😉

God, I haven't used IE in 10 years, used FF until 2010, and been using Opera since then. Best browser for security, and privacy IMO.

We have to use IE8 at work...it's stupid. It is old to the point where websites don't load right. Youtube no longer officially supports IE8 although you can still go there.

Well blimey, I didnt acuse you of fanboyism, that was most uncalled for. Yes FF has security flaws, thats why they have security updates 🙄, same as all other browsers and internet based applications. Its how quickly problems are dealt with that are the main issue. Having them dealt with quickly seems to be something you are opposed to. Now I could call you the same thing you called me based on that, but I'm only making a point here.

It was meant in general, sorry if it felt like a personal attack 🙂

IE is like Norton. Maybe we used it once apon a time but today NO THANKS we moved on to bigger and better things. FF21 ftw.

This. Need to get on to the IT guys about that, some people have newer IE and/or FF.

I haven't used IE as a serious browser Since IE6. But I have used IE on rare occasions such as visiting websites that may have a problem with either Chrome or Firefox (cyber-fox 64-bit counterpart). Or you have to view this webpage using IE.

I fail to see how this news worth there nothing new about exploits in MS IE,OS Or anything of MS. IT been happening for decades. Not that it maters to me I wont use IE browser for anything. I would use Chrome before IE again and i not fond of the lack of standard features that seem to be missing in chrome.

i use IE10 or Opera next 🙂 but admit IE8 is a bit old and wasn't the best when it was in it's time. more seriously each security issue solved is a good news.
