I don't think you understand how Computing works.
only reason vista died is because it hit a secure sockets support dead end, 7 has support for all the latest tls and the industry will have to go and force a transision to 1.4 or 2.0 to kill 7.

Vista Forever! Best OS ever. Windows 7 was just a graphics update of vista. Windows 10 is 2nd best.

M$ got it's ass on fire seeing Apple profiting of its OS. Win10 is sad attempt to make profits.

Where are the choices!? PC was always about the choice. It's not MAC that has hardware and software telling you what to do and what not.
We are not users with Win10, we just products. Freaking MacOS might get more freedom one day at this pace.
Widen up your visual field. You getting tunnel vision right there. Getting numb will lead you to paying subscriptions to use M$ bloatware one day.

About 2 months ago i used the windows 10 iso directly from microsoft and a windows 7 key that i never activated in the past or updated i had it from my university days from msdna and frankly forgot i even had it for some reason msdna gives you different key for each service pack so i grabbed both back then!...well it activated normally with out problems whatsoever like it was native win 10 key.

And i'm not being paid, nor did i get Windows 10 for free. It's a fact that Windows 10 is working flawless and better than Windows 7 for many many people out there.
I was also a happy Windows 7 user, untill Windows 10 came on my path.
When was the last time there was a better OS than Windows in general, that EVERYONE wanted to use at the time?
Name one from the past 20 years.

No thanks Microsoft, i'd rather take my chances and stay on windows 7, Your terms and conditions, Art style choices, naming convention (apps), lack of ability to completely disable windows defender, or windows updates, and most of all your business practices sickens me to the very core.
Once actual support for the operating system dies which isn't "January 14, 2020" i'll be going to Linux

Nope going to go with Win8.1 until 2023, maybe by then MS will have fixed Windows 10. As for Linux, I do use it but mainly for Data Recovery. Linux is still not for the casual user!
As a Tech, MS shouldn't change a thing with Windows 10, gives me great job security.

Just a FYI...
Windows 10 is still a free upgrade from Windows 7, just performed it for a client and it activated.

Support has to end sometime - can't support and old / outdated OS forever. Windows 10 is the real deal, now and in the future, so best get with it. My workplace recently switched to 10 as well, and we can expect adoption to increase as more businesses get on-board.
The thing I like the best about 10 is that it's basically a free OS. When I build a new system, a Windows license is no longer a requirement, and I've used an unlicensed system for months while my system was in transition. I still remember when Microsoft first introduced the activation system - everyone complained about how oppressive it was. It's nice that they have taken a more open approach.

Apparently the free update is possible only through the Microsoft Windows-Update-Assistant tool.
However, I couldn't find an official statement about Win10 being still free from Microsoft. There are only reports about the How-To.
Looks like an hidden Easter-Egg I guess 😀

Did it without the update assistant. Used the regular Windows 10 installer.

Yeah you won't find it anywhere officially but I just did it with the wife's computer so I wouldn't hear about notifications about 7 ending support.

HAHA ok. What ever. I ran Win 7 on my Ryzen rig as a test, and it was not as snappy, and USB 3.0/3.1 and networking speeds were slower. NVME speeds were a tad less, not faster, and modern games ran better on 10 then 7. Gee what a shocker there.
You are prolly one of those weirdos at first that was stuck on XP all the way up till 2010, then somehow become a fanboy of Win 7. Win 7 is 10 years old almost now, give it up. While its a great OS, its dead. Deal with it.
