Finally.
Why? I think that Windows 10 has become a pretty good OS, which can run on many old computers as well. We have not seen such a wide adoption probably even during windows XP era. It wouldn't be a problem per se to get it replaced but there is hardly anything windows 11 really offers to consider upgrade, especially if you are running and older system. We have come to a time where OS is really long term thing and new version of windows every few years is not just unnecessary, it's undesirable.

so they will stop breaking it on a monthly basis then this sounds like good news

I'm just not a fan of things being added to an operating system after the fact.... fixing bugs, heck yeah.. adding things I don't need nor want... nope. Here is my actual reaction to seeing weather and news added to the taskbar. Link

Hmm, where that leaves the LTSC machines running W10? Is there a feature so big, so important, so desirable that couldn't be implemented into the W10 that users have to upgrade "downgrade" cough, cough to W11?

They must hiring and entire new suicide sqad of devs do fix the windows 11 start menu and taskbar XD

Loobyluggs:

If their upcoming copilot product suite for MS Office is dependant on W11, then that is when I will upgrade, but if not - W10 until 2025 by the sounds of it.
"Only works on Windows 11" is a consequence of artificial limits imposed by Microsoft, not intrinsic differences between Windows 10 and 11. Forced artificial dependency would be a better way to put it.

Nope, those will stay the way they are because the person/people that decided that the changes are good have too much ego to admit that the changes suck for most people and should be made optional. Same goes for 2 clicks to get to the real context menu. That is a terrible design choice but ego wont let it be corrected or made optional. All Windows 11 needs to do to get me to use is use it is: 1. Give me the option to disable the new context menu. 2. Give me the option to always show all items in the start menu. 3. Give me the option to un-combine tasks on the task bar.

If Microsoft actually made Windows 10/11 for Workstations into a product that was Windows 10/11 Pro with nothing but the OS, a lot of people would spend extra $ for that. I modify my own install images to basically create exactly that. I'd pay to not need to go through the annoyance. I'm also glad that there won't be any more new features ..... that I would be removing/disabling anyway.

There is no "real" context menu. There is the new one to which devs are encouraged to switch, and there is the legacy one that was a notorious source of trouble with crappy shell extensions going berserk etc. Similar with legacy task bar, so it makes sense to drop both. What of course doesn't make sense is to make them so limited in features, but it's been getting more bearable over time with updates. Btw. brace yourselves for new Explorer, as the current one is slow and unreliable legacy cruft too and will be dropped too. (No idea if new Explorer will turn out to be bearable.)

sweet no more need to do "clean" installed update less I actual do clean install now. W10 to the day this build is retired, W11 startmenu, startbar change are main reason why i wont touch it, there next build is supposed to fix all that along with being back live titles, not sure if massive amount wasted space in startmenu is gona be fixed though

Ungrouping is going to be added soon. 4th option for me would be to have a small taskbar option, which only shows the time. I've been using that size since Windows 7. Still no idea why standard stuff like that hasn't be addressed first.

It has enough features, and you can almost add virtually anything with scripting, themes (uxthemes, so real native themes), registry, rainmeter (;-), tasks, etc. Let see when they actually drop support. I have two taskbar toolbars that Im not losing either. DQSD (Google it, extremely useful) and bookmarks folder.

Nothing like being tone deaf. Same with Netflix. Did you see latest comment from that CEO? Says annoyed customers will be back. Thank goodness some of these grand poohbahs leading companies on ANYTHING other than customer service are reaping what they sow and going bankrupt in the process. Bye bye now, Bed Bath & Beyond, et al.

I'll switch back to 11 when there's an actual feature I need. I switched to 11 mostly for its auto HDR feature (which ended up being completely broken) and the entire experience of using 11 ended up being a giant fat mess so I reverted back to 10. Until I have a solid reason to try it again, I'll stick with my perfectly functional system. I'd say fuck it and just switch to 11 again right now (assuming it's more functional than before/not a mess anymore) if it weren't for the fact MS are trolling us by STILL, even after the Winblows 8 dumpster fire, trying to force different GUI styles on us despite the fierce backlash. No, I don't want to lose the current Win 10 start menu, I pin a ton of things in it. MS must be afraid they'll spontaneously combust if they give options rather than force one style.
