Xbox actually does have hardware capable of that? I don't think so ๐

Sixtyfps
I dont think this is possible with a hdmi cable. My gaming monitor only uses 144hz with either a display port or dvi port. LMAO the xbox one struggles to even get 60 fps and 30 fps how are they going to get more fps
fantaskarsef
XB1 doesn't get 120 Hz. Only 1S and 1X do. Although I still doubt that...

I would say the point is, to have the option of using 120hz screens, even if the game doesn't.
I have a 144hz screen for my PC and my GC can't do 144fps decked out on full eye candy, but I have a monitor and a computer capable of doing it, it just can't. But I do have the options.

Now you can play Tetris and Pacman in 120Hz.

Don't forget that the Xbox also does other things than gaming, for example it's a great Netflix and also quite decent UHD Blu-Ray player (the S and X). Those and all other apps have now the options for 120 Hz, for example for smoother scrolling. Or maybe offer 24p Blu-Ray playback with the help of Freesync instead of blacking out the screen while changing from 60 Hz to 24 Hz (not sure if they will implement this, but theoretically it's possible).

I suppose that would make it 3D compliant (sigh) but really, what's the point, barley any of the newer titles will be able to maintain 60 yet alone 120 fps.

It's Freesync, aka Variable Refresh Rate(VRR). You don't have to maintain 120fps. That's the beauty of G-Sync, Freesync, VRR.....Tear-free, and virtually input lag free.

I'm thinking this has a lot more to do with VR than TV...120fps = 60fps per eye.

120 FPS @ 720p i guess?

I'm excited for this because it will give TV manufactures more of a reason support high refresh rates into TVs. I have a 4k Vizio that supports 1080p @120fps and it works really well. I wish it supported 1440p or 4k at 120fps. Hopefully when they move to HDMI 2.0 they will push it.

The thread title is about Xbox One though.

Nice, maybe now they will support some devs to make some awesome games on that hardware. Useless at the moment sadly. PS4 PRO leads by far.

What about the precious cinematic feeling?

This is nice addition, but it won't change a main issue ... that there is not enough interesting games only for Xbox console.

I guess No love for the Regular xbox one? Thats ok I was anyway planning on getting the Project scorpio. I am not even sure our 4k Tv supports 120hz need to check into that.
