The last time I played a game with a good map of London was Tomb Raider 3. Assassins creed syndicate was great but a little out of date as TR3 is now. So a new map would be great. Yes. Its about time they made some games with modern London in. Modern? Doh! 😱

although not 100% accurate the new watchdogs is pretty good, there are recognisable areas.

Season? Content updates? I feel old by saying in my days games came finished out of the box...

Unfortunately those days have passed. Instead of a full game on launch date, they split it into monetized chunks to sell for a longer duration. Equaling more money. Sad this is todays standard.

Well, it's not like the release of expansions over the course of a year or more, each with their own set of maps, wasn't a thing for a decade already. Not that I like it, but it's just named a season these days.

So true. There was a time when we paid full price, for a full game. Now we pay even more, for half a game.

There was a time we paid more for PoliceQuest game, than Battlefield V "premium pass" day 1. That time we got paid 3 times less than today... Times has changed 🙂 I'm talking about here in Norway, not the 3.rd world like some countries in south EU....

Then consider yourself lucky. Here, in a third world country, in the south of Europe, we have wages that are several times lower, but game prices as just as high in more developed countries.

I am of a similar opinion. As soon as the virtue signalling alarm bells start going off in my head, I'm out.

My hard line in gaming is when developers/publishers treat you like a product to the point where it breaks any chance for immersion. BFV already failed at this, hawking garbage skins and the like when you first sign in with no way to really avoid it. BF1 at least kept this hidden to submenus. Considering BF2042 already is announcing content as "seasons" instead of expansions (or even calling it DLC), this game is already neck deep in sleazy business practices.

And still you will buy and play the game, like MANY others 😀 Still fun to talking the game down though 😛

:D Hah, we'll see. BF games have always been a day 1 purchase for me, this time around I'm definitely waiting for reviews. I played BFV for a while before realizing enough had changed that it wasn't the fun Battlefield game I grew up with anymore. EA will need to show more good faith than just dangle those recreated 1942 / BFBC2 maps in front of me at this point...

Depends on what you mean by "in my days". I remember games coming out in the 80s and 90s with bugs and never getting patches, or getting a single patch that came on a Gaming Magazine floppy. Honestly speaking, I love content updates. Sure, they don't belong in story driven single player games, but if a dev decides to expand on a game with more content down the line, I'm all for it. Otherwise I'm paying £30+ for 6-100 hours of gameplay. I haven't gotten invested in a game that has no progression once you beat the actual game in years. It's like here's my money, I play you for a few hours and that's that? I want to see rewards for time put in. I would hate to pay £30 for a 6 hour story driven bollocks. Content updates are super common these days and having London in the next BF game is great. I'm still not buying this until I see reviews but this is good news. It's also good marketing, generating hype and all that.

I pre-ordered BF5 to play the beta, but cancelled after the beta disappointed me. I guess I will follow a similar route with 2042. Don't get me wrong, I want to like it, I am happy to give my money for a game I will enjoy but those games are becoming fewer as time goes on. I think I am in the 'They don't make games like they used to' age group.
