Made his buck, got lazy, wants to retire and rest. Lucky man, most of the people in this world can't even dream about something like that.

Mike Rayfield didn't have anything to do with the development of the graphics card he only dealt with strategy and business management which is all related to selling the products.

Rayfield cannot compete with Raytracing technology.

People leave companies all the time for a variety of reasons. Some go to other companies, some retire, etc. Usually, "turmoil" is not the result--it's just business as usual.

Life sometimes wins and one just retires and keeps on living, without work and daily drama.

Money say's he will assist in helping his buddy Raja that now works for INTEL. I have followed INTEL since 1990-1992 and from studying their business practices INTEL hates losing and will do ANYTHING to stay ahead of AMD. I guarantee a few years from now we will find out that the AMD workers that are leaving are assisting INTEL. As usual Lisa Su is going to have to fix and carry AMD even more since she has many degree's and one being in engineering.

All for the best, I think they dragged the division down, marketing sucked also. Let's see what next year brings to the table.

Mike Rayfield was an obstruction and hurt morale.
he kept pitching dumb-ass ideas (i.e. too expensive for too little performance) and was a monster to work for. he'd deliberately "forget" people's names and refer to them with unflattering nicknames while pissing on their ideas. he also didn't mix well with other high level executives.
good riddance.

@tunejunky - do tell more... seems every company with potential has its own hive of miscreant sucking the soul out of it and its employees...

"Mike is retiring at the end of the year. He has made the decision to spend more time with his family and pursue his personal passions."
His personal passion is to work at intel.
