These people haven't yet figured out that police has modern tech to find out "concealed" stuff...

a guy i knew like 8 years ago used to smuggle hundreds of iPhones into the country yearly, he basically choose flights that arrive between 1 and 4 am, had a lot of pockets and the help of some corruption, the moment he talk me about it, he had years doing it :I

Smuggling ssds seems strange but I guess their tiny size make it more worth it than other things I guess . Well at least is not heroin or similar.

What a nicer world this would be if your local street dealer only suppled you with a nice cheap brand name SSD. lol

I am sure these things will be more and more common, we need computers more than ever, so black market with parts either stolen or smuggled will continue to increase in size. It will be just a matter of time till we hear of news such as truck carrying GPUs ambushed on road and robbed of cargo. With current GPU prices, stealing just 100 high end GPUs can easily add up to street value of well over a $100K. And it's not just prices and duties, but also sanctions and embargos, I am sure someone smuggles hard drives and CPUs to china and sells them to blacklisted corporations for a street price. Similar situation is probably happening in Russia as well.
