$1,000 for 1080p wide? Way overpriced. Not even funny. You can get 3440x1440 100hz models for about that price these days, or less.

29 is the highest I would go for that resolution. 34 inch with 1080p is horrible. And what's going on with this overpriced crap hardware that vendors insist on releasing.

I'm thinking with the IPS claim that it must be a AHVA panel, prolly made by Optronics I would put money on. Nice performance specs for a 8 bit panel though! 144hz native and 166hz OC? Nice! If it wasn't for the 1080 width, would be even better.

IPS is epic fail, no true black levels and a yellow grain filter tint no thx. VA panels all the way.

Strange i think LG has a similar monitor for sale at half the price:https://www.pcdiga.com/monitores/monitor-curvo-lg-34uc79g-b-ips-34-uw-uxga-21-9-144hz-freesync# The biggest differences seem to be Gsync instead of Freesync and a 160Hz refresh rate against 144Hz... I already considered buying this screen but the problem is the size of the damn thing!...

I´m waiting for the monitor to be released, it has everything i want at a "decent" price. But i´ll probably go for the 27 version because of limited space no to mention it´s cheaper.... P.S. I think the time for Gsync to die has already passed... So Nvidia ditch that proprietary garbage and adopt Freesync!

1080p might not be the greatest resolution for 2017 but my rig has a GTX 680 and getting a 1440p will definitely kill the frame rate. I was ready to even upgrade my GPU for a WQHD screen but Acer and Asus newest models (ultrawides at 1440p with 144hz) got delayed almost a whole year so I decided to buy this model a few weeks ago from Tsukumo (Japan) and couldn't be happier. Important to point out, the IPS panel on the G Sync model (34UC89G-B) is not the same as the Free sync version (34UC79G-B) and does not have most of the problems the older model suffers from. If you get a good deal, go for it!

Which, on that VA panel in use, is achieved by backlight strobing which is ... disabled when you enable FreeSync (given the difficulty of achieving a reliable predictive model of variable backlight strobing with variable refresh rate without added input latency or luminance variation over time), meaning your response times now shoot up to unacceptable levels (VA is inherently slow, and exhibits slow response times when not handled properly). The monitor you mention is the epitome of false marketing as you are likely to be running such a monitor you are paying for with such a price with FreeSync on - but then it stops meeting its specifications, exceeding them rather widely - check out a professional review of the monitor.

Thats a lame ass 16:9. As a 29 inch 21:9 user, 1080 on a 34 in panel is stupid. This would be an awesome panel if 29 inch and under $700 but screw Gsync. My 29 inch 2560x1080 @ 80hz freesync was only $299.

I agree, paying $300 more for the G Sync version is not fare but in this LG model, the panel is better than the Free Sync version and I have an Nvidia card. Your 29" monitor falls under another category entirely so the comparison does not make any sense.. As far as I know, there are no 34" or lower size ultrawide monitors with such features (144hz and Gsync) on the market.
