In that case if you already have the TV I would agree with you. But if you looking for TV/ Monitor not so much. Ah, this was a thing over 10 years ago, where have you been? This isn't new. You do see the contradiction there right? :D I provided 2 examples that are woven in reality. Also noting the cost of these TV's. One thing you seem to be missing is that these are not Monitors but actual TVs. The selling point is that it offers OLED not gsync. You imply the opposite then claim I'm being selfish because I won't garner that view point. Nah, you are actually defining the very thing you try to point finger to. And as I've said before: -There is no proof that people with Turing cards, on mass, are buying TV's instead of Monitors. -This Gsync TV won't appeal to (next gen) console players do to it's segregation for Nvidia (IMO). -Gsync for these OLED Tvs are cost prohibitive if Gysnc is the focus (which is what some of you are focusing on).
Number one, the attitude is not needed towards anyone. This is for everyone posting. And number two, since when is adding more features at no real added cost a bad thing? This obviously is not aimed towards consoles consider it's Nvidia Gsync, so it's aimed at people who want to take advantage of Gsync. Who is the audience for that? Probably going to be people that have a Gsync capable computer. It's another option for display, simple as that.

As far as I know, Gsync has been enabled since the last firmware update. I've been using it for a week now and it works great. the range in 4k is 40-60fps.

Denial:

This isn't really true - for example this TV supports VRR through VESA on HDM2.1 - Xbox One X has it enabled but it currently does not work on AMD graphics cards.
Ooh. Then I for sure stand corrected. It never visited my mind a device using an AMD GPU would be using a non-Freesync compatible adaptive sync. I really should have expected as much from Microsoft, though.

Which GPU? I'm holding my TV buy until VRR is a sure thing (currently using a UHD 2014 TV, no HDR). If this thing works with my 1080ti (even with that 40-60 range) is good news for me and maybe I just buy one now.

@Eastcoasthandle Virtually everyone i know that runs a 20xx card, wouldnt mind playing on a larger screen than their moni, including me. Ever checked how much monis above 43in cost? Right. I rather spend same/less/more on a tv that will have a tuner build in, a remote so i can change settings without being 1ft away, and games like racing/flying will be much more fun than on some 43in moni for +1K. But yeah, completely useless.. Lol @Kaarme Not looking to rationale Nvs way of doing this, but one means it will work 100% guaranteed, as Nv tested the "certified" screens, the others "can or can not" work. Like sli for +2 cards, still possible, but no support from Nv if it doesnt..

Bugger.. missed out by one number. I got a 2019 C8 65" LG OLED...

You know, it's pretty sobering when you realise just how utterly insignificant the cost would be for certain companies to include in their anti-competitive practices, the purchasing of a 'loud and persistent presence' on any popular forum (tech sites, YouTube etc) with the primary intention, sadly, of disrupting the competition. With the comments and response patterns seen, there's no doubt, unfortunately, that this practice is extensive.

Does LG really believe that console gamers are going to buy their TVs labeld gsync when told it's for nvidia only hardware? Or better yet who, on mass, is buying turing cards to run off their TV's? "This gonna get gud" meme comes to mind.
Offers INSANE Value for me, I sent back my ASUS PG35VQ [2500USD] when i heard of this, i got used to my LG 55C6P OLED since 2016 been my exclusive PC monitor and I love it but wanted higher refresh and GSYNC so I got the 35inch ultrawidescreen, looked TINY by comparison and going back to cheap LCD made my eyes hurt, lack of black, LCD blur [even at 200HZ refres] There are tons of people gaming on OLED, 1400USD is VERY VERY cheap, considering that 35inch 21:9 HDR 1000NITS VA/FALD512 zones PG35VQ monitor costs 2500USD ALSO, LG OLED 2019 series is the ONLY TVs that have FULL HDMI 2.1 support and have NATIVE 4k/120hz panel, when HDMI 2.1 comes to PC all of it will be available, right now you can do 1440p/120hz HDMI 2.1 by design has VRR support, so all consoles already have "freesync" support without this update, this update introduces GSYNC support trough HDMI [always been trough DP ONLY] So now BOTH worlds can enjoy this feature, on console and on PC P.S.Whoever buys a new monitor without PROPER HDR in 2019 is IMO an idiot that has no idea what he misses, its HDR or nothing. But on non-OLED monitor sub 750NITS HDR is not really an HDR, just a marketing scam, it must be above 750niot and must support 10bit and wide-color gamut, otherwise its a waste of money

Gaming PC in the living room is getting more popular. I had this setup for a couple of years and I know several other people who are working this way now. I'm actually considering replacing my desk and monitor in the office with a TV and couch, with a lapboard. Having G-Sync on a TV would be great - especially an OLED.
I do game in my living room often. I ran a HDMI cable thru the walls and i'm using a bluetooth media keyboard and DisplayFusion mobile app to control the PC from my living room. I play racing games almost exclusively in my living room with a controller. Same with old school pixel gfx games. This is G-Sync compatible though not G-Sync. It's basically Adaptive Sync tested to be compatible with nVidia drivers. nVidia drivers are kind of a hit and miss with Adaptive Sync so far. Kind of disappointed personally about the lack of progress with the support. Last time i checked My MSI Optix MAG27CQ and my Samsung QLED were both still not supported and enabled it doesn't work with all games so i just turn it off.

Perfect timing for my brand new LG C9 i just got !!! This IMO is going to effectively kill Nvidia's BFGD initiative. Those BFGD monitors are utter disappointment for the money they want, and the bugs that they have. The halo defects around bright images under dark background are just awful ! Sure, the BFGD has maybe 2-4 ms better response time + Nvidia shield and G-sync ULTIMATE rather than a regular G-sync, but this does not matter at all with the HDR capabilities and picture quality of these OLEDs. I personally have the smaller LG 27GL850-B 1 ms IPS monitor for game critical tasks and the C9 OLED as my secondary monitor for BEST ULTIMATE HDR gaming and content viewing. I am absolutely blown away by this combination and I think it is the way to go for 2x less money spent for ULTIMATE gaming experience !!! ps: The only thing left is for Nvidia to release the 3000 series video cards so that i can finally experience 4K 120hz resolution on the C9 from my PC through an HDMI 2.1... Currently nothing out there has the HDMI 2.1, and HDMI 2.0 is only limited to 4K 60hz or 1440p 120hz if you wanna game on the LG C9 at max refresh rates. ps: Here is a LINK for official Nvidia G-sync support list the LG C9 OLEDs are listed with 40-120Hz G -sync support

doesn't Nvidia Gsync need extra hardware ? Then when it does not , it is more like AMD freesync. in other words NO BRAND INVOLVED, just the standard vesa adaptive sync technology. Losercompanies running with the BRANDNAME. As if the brandname will make things good, look at apple. It's stupid and childish. aka marketing and it's toddler employees.
Nvidia GSYNC Compatible [or whatever the basic GSYNC called that doesn't have the actual GSYNC hardware, there are 3 levels of GSYNC] means that the product was actually Certified, tested in nvidia lab to work according to their parameters, that when you plug it in, install nvidia driver, everything will work, no bugs, no issues and all features that should be there were tested and found to be working. Thats it. Unlike AMD that only started to do with with FreeSync 2 monitors [and not all of them], Free Sync one was up to the monitor manufacturer, some had some features, others only otehr features, some had all features, some had tiny range range, others wider range. Nvidia has a list of Minimal features/parameters that have to work, including the range, it cant be some random 10-15mhz range like with some cheap freesync monitors, this TV has nice 40 to 120 range, i wish it would go at least 20 to 120 so 30hz games can be enjoyed too, but 40 to 120 is great for all PC games, keeping above 40 even with RTX is not an issue

40 - 120Hz means that Nvidia's equivalent to LFC would be enabled, so you can run games at 30FPS without frametime variance. However, running the TV at 60Hz, you would only get a 40 - 60Hz range which means that Nvidia's equivalent to LFC is not enabled. I expect that with CRU, perhaps the range could be brought down to 24 - 60Hz and that should fix it.

I don't think they're gonna stick "G-Sync" on the front of the box in the future. Just "Variable Refresh Rate". On the back on the box it might say "G-Sync compatible" as one of those bullet points.

Excellent news! One more reason not to buy any older LG OLED TV... Now if only they could increase the brightness in HDR, I want to be blinded 😀
data/avatar/default/avatar26.webp
I have it up and running on my C9 65 via my EVGA RTX 2080 TI SC Black. 1440P looks good as well. For HDR games, COD MW is amazing especially when you consider that it's HDR as well.

I use my home theater setup often for pc gaming and I would love to have VRR on my tv, too bad mine will not receive this update. Hopefully this ends up being a trend.

Well I don't have an OLED (but 2019 LG TV), and apparently it still works (see latest Nvidia driver thread). Free is free... can't see much bad about it from a technical side.

Right now I own an almost 5 year old Samsung ue55hu8290 curved TV as screen only for my PC to do musicproduction with Ableton, cause it's just very convenient to have 0.8m² @100DPI. Also I own a 1080TI waterforce extreme, that runs out of the box @2GHz+. To have a replacement with OLED and gsync as well would just be a charme. So I can enjoy quite a few AAA titles on high to ultra setting, when I find a bit of time. Just my 2 cents... 🙂
