I see nothing unique or interesting in that design.

LG trying to glorify a garbage can, very impressive.

And here I thought the patent trolling on phones was excessive...

I wouldn't have thought you could get a patent for something this suttle. I don't think this patent would hold up if they tried to enforce it as there is way to much prior art that is very similar.

Don't forget LG use to be Goldstar. Remember those cheap crappy electronics from the 80's.

Looks like a droid that you'd see from the Empire.

Can any generic bullshit ANYTHING be patented outside the US? Or is such insanity exclusive? This doesn't surprise me because Apple patented a fracking rectangle with icons on it, and won in court after suing. I've seen toilets with less generic designs. Edit: Oh... almost didn't realize -
https://proxy.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fvignette4.wikia.nocookie.net%2Fdragonball%2Fimages%2F4%2F4b%2FVegetaItsOver9000-02.png%2Frevision%2Flatest%3Fcb%3D20100724145819&f=1
Yeah but... this is beyond a rectangle - it's a box. That's 1 whole additional dimension! If that's not awe-inspiring creativity that needs protection, I don't know what is! /s

You mean less crappy? 🙄

I have already patented stupidity. LG needs to get over it.

The LETSGODIGITAL part is super annoying, and yes I agree, least to say it looks like an escapee from star-wars...

Apple already holds the crown when it comes to garbage can glorification.

Too bad all you read was the thread title and not the linked article because if you had you would have seen that this happened in Korea and not the US.

I read the article. Too bad you cannot find disgusting a society that allow you to patent simple volumetric shapes.
