Now only if it could follow you around that would be impressive

Really?

LG realizes the power of gimmickry in marketing. I find reliance on useless gimmickry in marketing repulsive tbh.

Obviously using Magic...

:bang: Another stupid gimmick. When will we get rid of such "innovations"???? I suppose when it touches dow "to charge" it will rattle like a cheapo-1$-beaper - as obviously it will rattle on subwoofer-equipped base. The only advantage of such device is that it can be kicked out of the window (without detaching cables) the moment you realize how stuppid it is.

Would a floating sub-woofer help with vibrating the house/neighbours?

Nope.

Great idea, wasting electricity for no benefit whatsoever. That’s what the world needs.

Nope.
Actually, it should. A lot of the vibration from a subwoofer that shakes the house is transferred directly from the woofer to whatever it has contact with. Though if it's loud enough to shake a home it's still going to be obnoxious even without physical contact. Long waves/low frequencies seem to pass through walls/objects more easily than higher frequencies, but I haven't looked that up to confirm it. Not that it'd matter with such a puny little magnetically levitated speaker.

This was my first thought for this gimmick, except the subwoofer is in the lower half with the electromagnet, so it's doing nothing to help that really.

...I have too much imagination I guess but I don't think they intended you to use this on people. :P EDIT: That aside though if it uses magnetism wouldn't that possibly interfere with other nearby electronic devices? (Probably not a issue these day's what with all shielding and such I suppose, just curious.)

Well, that's why people would attach some quality floor spikes to their speakers to minimise the contact with the floor. This minimises unwanted sound travelling through the floor and walls and helps to balance/clean-up the sound, rather than a muddy messy sound. The idea is to minimise the effect of the room on the sound coming from the speakers. This product's idea is actually sound (no pun intended), except, it's unlikely to be able to be upscaled to be of any real use.

Somebody seriously needs to create a drone speaker that follows you around. Brilliant for the listener, really effing annoying for everyone else - perfect!

you'd think futuristic gimmicks like this would make a tech forum excited...im not into ir nor would i buy it but it still looks pretty cool 🙁

If it has Google Cast built in I would love to get it, it's a classy piece.

maybe a gimmick, but someone else might feed of this and come up with some other idea that maybe better for mankind 🤓

Guess this would be yet another item individuals with pacemakers to stay away from. EDIT: individual listener based surround sound; 4-5 drones around each persons head...could be quite the spectacle.
