Wow wrong move there, what a shame. The PT teaser was epic and looked like the final game would have been a hit too.

Just did a search and this came up. It's not cancelled so Konami say.

It says nothing about the game not being cancelled. It says that the series, not the game - keyword - Series, will continue being worked on.
As for the game itself, Konami have not commented on the current project, if it even exists. They have said that PT was purely a playable concept.

people nowdays using smartphone... and spend at least few minutes each day on it
and especially for people in japan that have busy daily life, wont have time to play "real game", they just spend gaming on short free time, like on train etc.
for game company, smartphone game is really cash cow
cheap development cost, make money like crazy
like gungho puzzle&dragon ... few years ago making crazy money , even still making money now

Its sad for gaming. But Konami are not a small company and they dont need AAA gaming to survive.
