Is color cycling RGB crosshairs/HUD going to be the newest part of the RGB craze?
If done correctly, you likely wouldn't even notice the color cycling, so your intent on making it sound like you're going to have a crosshair and etc. going all RGB on you like it's a dance floor isn't valid. Color shifting to the next color in line left or right on an 8-bit panel with 16.7 million colors would be next to impossible to detect. Let alone on a 10-bit panel with 1.07 billion. Even a 6-bit panel would be difficult to see, but i would not be surprised if you could actually see it then. That being said, i'd be surprised if an OLED panel were ever to be a 6-bit panel

hehe, could be! 🙂 The color should change in such a way that non of the subpixels will be on full brightness the whole time. It can be done in several ways, one of which is to have the LED turn off for a duration of 10% of the frames in total, or translated turn on and off few times within one second (or within the 60 fps that would be 6 frames being off). Our eye should not be able to notice much difference, probably will notice some dimming, if at all. I believe that will prevent burn-in because it will bring the subpixel led from zero to highest brightness and keep its integrity. I am just not sure if this method will reduce the lifespan of the OLED in other way.
