Pardon the lame pun in the headline.
It is a lame pun. You should be ashamed of yourself.

I don't know what else can AMD do in order to gain higher market share?! intel's market & mind share seems impenetrable. . . 🙁

read the article. shortages. how are they supposed to get more market if they don't have goods to fill the market. then notice servers

nice fat 350/450 EUR for 6 and 8 core is certainly not helping. but these prices are likely somewhat forced, because lowering them down would lead to empty shevles.

I was thinking like zen 2 to hop in. Yes servers as the most lucrative market is gaining traction.

zen2 (r3000) was imo the best cpu launch since sandy. with cpus like 3600 and 3900x being not only fast but good value, efficient and first to offer pci-e 4.0 they made it a slam dunk.Im sure they sold some insane amount of r3000s. everyone, and I mean literally everyone, could find themselves a suitable cpu.budget (3100,3300x,3600),workstation (3700x,3900x,3950x),enthusiast gaming (every x-sku) you name it.with an option to get a variety of mobo tiers, including people upgrading from x300/1st gen what does r5000 offer over r3000 ? 15% more performance for 50-60% higher price.

The article omits an important word in the sentence, "AMD is struggling to keep up with the high." The missing word there is DEMAND. AMD obviously has much more demand than they can supply. Their market share would likely be considerably higher if they could satisfy that demand.

no one in the thread knew that, but this is actually the first qualified sample of 11900K running aida fpu on intel 200w cry o' cooler an 8/16 beating amd's bestest gaming 12 core ? not bad. we'll see about the price tho, without it it's meaningless.

"Intel also cited improving supply of lower-end processors, like those destined for Chromebooks, as a contributing factor. Intel CEO Bob Swan noted the company increased its PC CPU units by 33% during the fourth quarter." Intel gained market share by selling cheap CPUs for low-end laptops by the truckload.

not the first qualified sample, simply Intel as always used the best scenario based on performance, in this picture you will already find games that even10900k won

Since they are showing 1080p as a strong point, I expect for them 1440p and above to be weak points, but we'll see.

oh they can fill the demand at current prices no problemo. shelves are not empty, are they? https://geizhals.de/?cat=cpuamdam4&xf=16686_Ryzen+5000&asuch=&bpmin=&bpmax=&v=l&hloc=at&hloc=de&plz=&dist=&mail=&sort=t&bl1_id=30 so no - at current prices THERE IS NO "much more demand than they can supply"

-> Totally aGR€€D... It's the price that matters... 5600X @275 bucks 5800X @350 bucks 5900X @500 bucks 5950X @750 bucks are price(whishes), that AMD could afford, but they just dont want to... and don't tell me that TSMC lifted the prices... @ZEN2 production costs were darn cheap @20-30€ per chiplet (mooreslawisdead told it once in a video), now it seems to be 40-50€ per chiplet... IO-die & interposer add another 30-40 bucks & done is the cake). Here we say threefold productioncosts are the selling price, so do the math your own... even my pricewhishes are above that, so it's all about GR€€D. SO SAD! In this article the productioncosts for ZEN2 were even lower: https://adoredtv.com/zen2-chiplet-quality-examined-by-cost/

regarding demand and supply, to be fair, we should see more around the globe rather than pointing a shop still have product on the shelve, no ? at the moment its still limited-supply if we look at US retailers : https://www.newegg.com/amd-ryzen-9-5950x/p/N82E16819113663 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0815Y8J9N https://www.bestbuy.com/site/amd-ryzen-5-5600x-4th-gen-6-core-12-threads-unlocked-desktop-processor-with-wraith-stealth-cooler/6438943.p?skuId=6438943 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1598372-REG/amd_100_100000059wof_ryzen_9_5950x_3_4.html its hard to find in japan, most pc-part stores sold-out zen3 https://shop.tsukumo.co.jp/goods/0405767427013/ https://www.pc-koubou.jp/products/detail.php?product_id=775760 https://www.dospara.co.jp/5shopping/detail_parts.php?bg=1&br=10&sbr=1299&mkr=25&ic=469249&lf=0 still if u really want it yeah u can get it, especially if you dont mind buying with premium-price but that mean limited-supply, which we cant get easily (available on most retailer)

AMD has more demand than supply so that isn't happening anytime soon. Once things settle down mid year I would expect some price cuts. Intel's Rocket Lake might also force AMD to make a price cut. However if you are selling as many as you can make then price doesn't matter since you need to actually make more product to gain market share. AMD needs to work with TSMC to get them to manufacture more product.
