Besides the troll post, good 4k read; although 960 is scoring much lower than mine.

I'd like to see some more longevity tests, and proper benchmarks before I would even consider this tech.

who is the troll?
Optane is 10x endurance vs Nand samsung 960 pro 2TB 1PB vs 8PB data written.
latency is <10us
4k is 6xSamsung 960 times
Sequetials QD1 is 1,5x
QD32 is just for Samsung Funs.
And i have currently a 960Pro 2TB.
Intel now wins 4:1 vs Samsung. Nothing Less Nothing More.

if you think 4k is not the most important , the Samsung troll are you. That's all.

We've never experienced a system that felt as fast and responsive as our workstation with the 900P as the operating system drive, and that’s largely due to the explosive random read performance at low queue depths. At QD1, the 900P is nearly 4x faster than the Samsung 960 EVO 1TB.
You will see and feel a performance benefit just by using the Optane SSD 900P as your operating system drive. The feel of the system changes even if you’re replacing a high-performance NVMe SSD. You will notice the increased responsiveness immediately and then gradually become accustomed to it. In our experience, you will take the performance for granted until you work on a slower PC. Then you'll wish it had an Optane SSD

I'm not disputing what reviews said about it feeling fast and responsive.
4k is not the most used IOPS size in general OS use.
You said "it's the most important"
Most OS file operations are a mix of .5k to 4k..
Having a ssd that does not improve on file sizes <4k isn't going to bring a huge improvement in 'responsiveness'.
Most of this responsiveness reviewers are talking about can be attributed to latency improvements.
Anyways, since clearly you don't know much about this topic, I'm done here.
You can troll elsewhere.
