I hope we'll be able to read Guru3D review soon. Too bad they opted to compare just 2700k, and missed 3770 and 4770

I get the feeling this is just another relatively small increment. I will wait for Skylake.

Of course it is, either Skylake or Haswell-E might be where there will be a more significant performance jump, but I'll believe it when i see it.

Looking forward to a review! :P Then it'll be time to crunch my skull as to whether its worth to get or not

Hilbert, you´ll be review these? I curious about the overclock potential.

Yes ... Intel however could not deliver on time with I think all press. Once the CPU arrives I'll do an article and focus on overclocking.

Great, right after I buy a G3220.

Here is one quick review until HH gets his sample 🤓 http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/cpu/70473-intel-core-i7-4790k-devils-canyon-22nm-haswell/?page=3 EDIT: so much for improved TIM or idk :P, stock cooler vs stock cooler
A word or two about temperatures: Intel says it is to use the same processor-in-box (PIB) cooler for this chip as for the 4770K. We used just such a heatsink during regular testing and found that, due to the extra power consumption generated by higher voltages, the Core i7-4790K ran hotter, at an average of 88C, compared to 78C for the older Haswell processor.
At least now you can have 4.4ghz pretty much guarantied.

May have to pick up one of those Pentium K's for my first Sub Zero Overclocking adventure 🙂

to be honest i dont see the small performance bumps as an issue, it just means anyone running Sandy Bridge or later knows that their processor will still be fairly high end, even years after they were released. What impresses me a lot at the moment though is how they're cramming the same or slightly faster CPU's clock for clock into a smaller and smaller power envelope, aren't we meant to be making the jump to another type of wafer instead of silicon? or has that idea been abandoned?

I'm ready to pre-order one but the above quote is really worrying. I will wait for Hilber and others to confirm this about the temps. And I get it about the "higher" temps are due to the high stock clocks but tbh I was expecting better.

There's really no reason to "upgrade" if you already have SB or IB unless you just simply have to have the latest processor. Personally, I'm looking to scale back.... That Pentium G3258 is looking very tempting....if the price is right.

I find that Hexus review to be a little asinine. Anyone purchasing a DC processor wll be using an aftermarket cooler, not the stock one.

Try 5.5ghz on air.... https://twitter.com/intel/status/474046995804323842 Mine is pre-ordered as of now. I really wasn't going to but knowing 5.5ghz is a possibility I went for it. Got an ASUS MAXIMUS HERO VII on the way as well.
inb4 all the "why can't my cpu hit 5.5GHz" posts lol 😀

I'm sure not all will, but this is promising for at least 5ghz. At least we know its capable.

Yeah I know.
