True, but let's look at Netburst. xIcarus proved a very good point with Netburst, you can have it clocked from 3ghz to 3.7ghz and see almost no performance gains. Just very hot temps! Overall I'm looking at performance per watt I guess. 😀
In that field you're right of course, efficiency is improving. I just have moved on to considering heat my main problem in gaming rigs, not power draw 🙂 That's exactly why many people postpone upgrades I think, because they think about performance more than about efficiency, at least for desktop gaming rigs. I started to think about efficiency when I built my first HTPC, and undervolted it at stock clocks, because I was thinking about it running many hours, whereas my gaming rig is just on when I play. Just my personal look at it though... so if newer processors would be interesting, I'd rather have them in my HTPC, but then again, can't be bothered spending €500 or more for a HTPC upgrade I don't need...

Dang it, I want a Skylake-E, and I want it before the free Windows 10 Upgrade runs out, that means July 2016 at the latest. Looks like I'm not getting what I want...

You can be sure of that lol, I doubt we will see Skylake-E anywhere earlier than autumn 2016.
