I suspect that the 12600k will end up being priced closer to the 5800x , and a lower sku will compete with the 5600x (the 6core die without the E cores that they are making also making) just depends on how badly intel wants market share vs margin.
Msrp is lower 279 while 5600x was 350 And 301 euros atm i can buy 5600x in Greece readily for 290 euros https://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/intel-core-12th-alder-lake-announced,1.html So except if it gets sculped in retail the price should be +-20 bucks in comparison to 5600x at least after 1-2 months when the enthusiastic wave of buyers end. I assume at least !

here in canada at least ,from launch the 5600x was going for like 450cad ( ~315 eur before tax ,~350 eur after local sales tax! ) until very recently. if supply is bad, wont matter what msrp is unfortunately. I hope you're right though!

The 12400 and 12600 would be killers in their categories !
Unless intel puts some 100 eur mobos no killing is possible. 🙂

315 euros is bellow msrp if you count in our vat here 24% in general when something lunches for 100 usd we expect it to 100 euros here after taxes +-5 euros ,availability will be key for sure if demand exceeds availability prices will skyrocket , but i am not so sure cpus can be sculped as easy as gpus ... there is no high demand on cpus for mining to dwindle the supply and those cpus come from the intel fabs ..not Samsung or tsmc , so i am hopeful that after a month or two things will be "normal" . I might be wrong though

doesn't the msrp in the eu usually include VAT? if the cpu is priced in euros? or does it depend by country? , if I applied 24% vat the to the "tax free" ~315 euro "canadian" price . that would be like 390euros... that would be rough indeed. On another note, we'll see how much 10nm "aka" 7nm fab intel has set aside for this, intel has some big orders for sapphire rapids server chips and icelake server chips. I have to say I'm not too optimistic about it.

Well there are some review data leaked,PC gaming is what I thought it was,no real difference unless you run the best GPU and CPU at low resolution.12700K as usual one to look at

Pretty good but that power consumption on load for 5% more FPS? I want to see the what the 3D cache will do now at lower power. I cannot buy heater CPUs/GPUs with global warming kicking up. 😀

Damn... i7's and i5's will be flying off the shelves if true.
You have to account the platform cost too. Is the small performance bump worth the extra money ? Lets wait for the full review from here & there.

Considering these parts are available in volume at MSRP literally everywhere I've looked, looks like most people are waiting for reviews. Or everyone upgraded during last year's craziness and Intel missed the upgrade boat.

so the 12600k seems to be 5-10 % better then the 5600k in gaming but still worse then amd when it comes to power consumption according to youtube Peter Wynne Evans

Always thought the 12700 was probably going to be the better chip for the money given it has the same number of P cores as the i9.

Indeed. I never really bothered checking power usage, because electricity - though still relatively expensive relative to wages - was still cheap by European standards. That is starting to change. My annual energy bill has doubled in the last year. Tripled in the last two. And that's after I switched almost everything over to energy efficient alternatives (well, ok, other than the PC). I'm becoming more and more conscious about these components using a lot more power than I'd like.
I agree that power usage is irrelevant on desktop for most people but it's going to be relevant on laptop though they'll have to work very hard to get this down for their next laptop cpus and this will hurt performance. I don't expect miracle for their next laptop cpus seeing the results of today.
