As I've understood, it's "glued" together with epoxy. Epoxy is resistant to temperatures.

It's not easy to melt epoxy without damaging CPU core, almost impossible. Brute force is the way to go, but eeeeaaassssyyyyyy brute force.... 🙂

normal epoxy yes but there is special one that are more or less like real melt from thermal and strengh caracteristic... part of my racecar frame are melted with epoxy and it's just fine. also Coolaboratory sell epoxy to "melt" processor to cooler (once do you cannot remove it anymore).

Maybe they should do so with a tray edition, but not the boxed one. People would complain about paying hundreds of [insert currency] and still need to glue their cpu together... that would sound strange to me too 😉

Correct. The 5960X is a gimped Xeon. That's why it has the solder. Same goes for the 5930 and 5820

I hope so too, that and the 2x16 PCI 3.0 + DDR4 (not sure how much that helps in games) with the middle Haswell-E 6 core could be a decent deal, if you also have 2 powerfull GPUs that is.

Even though the chip is a gimped Xeon chip it is still a step in the right direction. Heck we could see the standard non enthusiast i series Cpus go back to their SB routes.
