perhaps Intel can come into this game being realistic and grounded in reality. Sadly AMD isn't any better than Nvidia at the moment.

Ferrari and Lamborghini started out as agricultural equipment manufacturing businesses. If NVIDIA decides to only make 3090Ti's from now on and sell em at 10k $ thats their prerogative. What someone did yesterday doesnt oblige him what to do today. Youre just venting without a direction. Equivalent of a kid pulling on mothers sleeve and yelling "BUT MOOOM!"
For someone calling other to vent with no direction i must say you don't really have one either. There's only two discrete GPU manufacturers atm. If nVidia would decide to make only RTX 3090 then AMD would be able to charge whatever they want and you can be sure they would. Then your ONLY option would be to buy a RTX 3090 priced card. It's not like people are forced to buy a Ferrari. You can freely visit Toyota and buy a Yaris if you want because you know there's more than just 2 car makers.

The point is the prices can't get all bonkers because there are alternatives. If you're a gamer and Nvidia/AMD price low entry cards at $1500+ then buy an xbox or a playstation or just game on a iGPU or a mobile. If you're a company doing discreet 3D work, math calcs, etc you're probably already buying a GPU over a few thousand. In the meantime companies like Intel and various China firms will properly gladly pop out sub $1000 GPUs in the gap that both companies left over - just going to take a bit of time. My point with the xbox is that's basically what's already happening - a lot of my friends who even recently bought pascal GPUs are just buying xbox's now because the prices are so high/non-existent stock.

I'm an engineer. I need a good PC with a relatively good GPU. I don't need a powerhouse for my work but at least something better than a x3 grade cpu with a xx50 grade gpu. Ideally i wanted a RTX 3080 for obvious reason but they were all sold out and the price was just over the top in Canada. I don't do much rendering these days anyway so ... It's not that i can't afford to pay 5 grands for a PC but i put myself in the shoes of students and it must ****. I remember as a student having a very limited budget to build a PC yet still requiring a good one to do my homework. That's why i'll keep saying around here there's something else than gaming in life. High end home PC costing upward of 5 grands is not good and eventually if the trend continue it will hurt our society as a whole.

What are you doing, specifically, that requires a discrete GPU?

Not much these days tbh. I specified my post a little bit. I should have said i used to need a good GPU for work. I used to do some rendering in my "youth" but now i'm mostly doing full stack coding cause well that's what it is lol. But that's my career path i could have taken a different career path where i would still need a good GPU for work. Still need a good multithread cpu though. But it doesn't change my point. High end home GPU are not necessarily only used for games. And stupidly high price like what we have atm is just not good and comparing the situation to a Ferrari costing an absurd amount of money is just ridiculous tbh. A Ferrari serve no purpose other than either telling people you got money or going too fast on the road (someone who love to drive and got the money). A Yaris will get you from point A to point B just fine and if you follow the law it will get you there as fast as a Ferrari. The RTX 3090 and even RTX 3080 are more than just for telling people you got money they are actually potent home workstation card for students or startup.
