Oh yes that analysis is exactly correct! I had the dx12 framework inside syswow64 & system32 ... let's say for a "project" 🙂 Thanks for the valuable hint and sorry for the effort you made! It starts up now.
Np, glad that you've got it working. And I think that I know that avrgj guy too 😉))))

Could you release updated Afterburner setup with the new RTSS please? For convenience purposes.
Sorry, I don't think that it is a good idea to update AB installer under the same version number but with different contents. Updated RTSS will be included in the next version of AB.

Yeah I tried using the RTSS GUI at first too but editing the config file is pretty easy, even if I initially ended up going at it in a very ineffective way. (And entirely incorrect too at that, well I learned something from it.) 😀 Not much to it, just open the "global" file in the profiles folder in any preferred text editor - or a exe specific .cfg file if you'd rather use separate profiles. - and set the denominator and FPS limit and start the game and it should use the new values, restarting Afterburner - and RTSS with it. - isn't necessary either. (Guessing you could technically do it with the game itself still running too - as some games do offer framerate caps of their own which can be freely adjusted or changed on demand. - but I just like to at least try and be a bit careful just in case some software might not take too well to direct changes although I suppose that of any of the things that can be adjusted via Afterburner or RTSS the FPS cap might not be that much of a issue.) EDIT: Come to think of it I don't think I've seen any skins for RTSS, guessing it would also be able to benefit from recent changes to the skinning system just that it's not used as often as Afterburner and you only really see it when altering some of the settings specific to it.

Big thanks to AN and to HH for this great piece of software called Riva Tuner SS

First and most importantly, thank you for all the hard work that goes into this application. Secondly I have a minor quality of life request. When updating to a new version, can you please allow the running version to be shut down automatically during install? It can be a hassle to Get RivaTuner to shut down without going into say MSI Afterburner and unchecking all your monitoring items. :)

You don't know what you're conjuring. :infinity:

Shutting down Afterburner should also exit RivaTuner Statistics Server if it's not currently loaded into anything, various applications do have a tendency to well I don't really know what they're using but they do show up in Afterburner when using the "i" button for info and under active 3d processes in that statistics window so adding compatibility profiles via RTSS to not have these monitored can help speed this up, otherwise exiting other affected software and waiting a while should also unload RTSS. 🙂 (Or logging out and then in again, usually also cleanly unloads stuff like that without needing a full reboot.) That said even if some file is in use if you install it over anyway it'll just prompt for a reboot being needed so it can clean up and replace any files the installer currently can't access so it's usually not a big problem.

All you need to shut down RTSS is shutting down MSI AB. There is absolutely no need to uncheck all monitoring items in AB or do anything else like that. No promises on adding auto shutdown of AB during RTSS setup, implementation of things like that can be rather tricky, especially considering that AB is not the only application, which can use and auto-populate RTSS process. And right now there is much more priority task in the features list, which is currently being developed. Full Vulkan support is approaching, initial Vulkan hooking support (which includes Vulkan framerate/frametime monitoring on the graphs and Vulkan framerate limiting) is already working and expected in RTSS beta soon.

(There is no way we could also get vsync/triple buffering, right? I would erect an Unwinder statue for that).

As USSR era guns collector I'd prefer some rare model of AK instead of statue 🙂)) Joking aside, there is no interest from MSI side to see any D3DOverrider-styled functionality in AB. P.S. I erroneously edited your original post instead of replying to it, sorry.

It's awesome and all... - but why RAR?! It's awesome and all... - but why RAR?! 😥 Please upload .ZIP versions. I rather avoid the .RAR programs. Also, do we need to apply the Overlay (such as Steam Overlay) Tweak again (one with delay parameters) ? Can you post it here, please. THANKS

No need to start Steam overlay related discussion again please, especially in multiple threads simultaneously. Just read the release notes instead, all changes for public releases are documented there.

No problem, I understand. What do you believe would take to convince them? A Twitter campaign? Reddit? It would be SO awesome if it happened. Thanks for the good work man! 🙂

Do you need their permission though? Would they notice if RTSS had a "force D3D triple buffer" profile setting? :-P

Of course no, I don't need the permission to add anything to MSI Afterburner. Actually in most cases MSI even have no ideas what kind of new functionality I'm working on in a new version until I finish development and show them new version. So they’ll have absolutely no problems if I add let’s say D3DOverrider or any other components of RT to MSI Afterburner bundle, but they don’t see it as important selling point for them, which means that I can add it, but entire development and future supports of such functionality will be funded entirely by me. It is absolutely ok for freeware products like RT and D3DOverrider were, but I’d like to avoid putting MSI branding on 100% hobby projects. Normally users see everything included in AB as commercial functionality 100% funded by MSI and treat it accordingly.

It would be great to include it in RTSS, it would fit in with the frame limiter (even though it's not for that reason). Good work with Vulkan support. It's great.

You know them and your business association much better, of course, but a setting like that would make MSI Afterburner an even more unique and essential piece of software than what it already is.
