It'll be good news for AMD if Nvidia needs to raise 1070 and 1080 prices. Although I wouldn't expect their prices to suddenly jump 100 dollars following AMD's bizarre example.

i think nvidia has a lot of headroom to even keep their prices stable judging from the size of the chip and the use of cheaper gddr5/5x ram although if amd goes up 100 usd i do not see why they can not use that as an excuse to rise their prices a bit

Really though I don't think we will start to see prices inflate for another couple months or so.

Miners bulk-purchasing graphics cards and now THIS!! I think; no no... I am sure it would take me another 2 years to save enough money to upgrade. Upgrading used to be so fun and reasonably cheap, but now it is just sad.

Manufacturers will be forced to make prices more reasonable if people simply stop buying their products due to the ridiculous raised expense.

^^^Yeap, i could buy a 1070 today, but i really can't justify spend over £350 for a new card, bang for your buck is certainly out of whack at this time graphic card wise, and i have yet to see anything, even VR, that makes my present system grind to a halt.
I think we are at the stage now where even mid range cards are so powerful even a low/high settings look and run fine for everybody not watching FPS and pixal counts.

industry BS again you can be sure the big system builders and Gpu manufactures have already ordered what they need for a fixed price many many months in advance. It is probably the summer time slow down that is having an affect on sales. So they are just trying to get some panic buying on the go.

It's pretty much impossible to find a non reference 1070 for less than 550$ in canada. Most of them are 600$ and a few are at almost 700$. This is for a 1070 ... The msrp is 350$ USD so it should be sold at 450$ CAD. I paid my 970 400$ something a couple of years ago from what i can recall. I certainly did not pay 550$ for it. The 1070 is a good card but at 550$ it's hard to justify the upgrade.
The less expensive dual fan 1060 are 300$. Most are sold at 325$. That's a lot of money for an entry level card.
Gonna build a new PC this fall. I hope the price will come down. I don't want to have to keep my 970 cause i want to sell my old PC as a whole.
