"Lord, what's that annoying noise???" "Yeah, I'm copying files onto the NAS right now."

Guess Hilbert Hagedoorn doesnt know much about networking hardware. "fairly unknown IC". lol. Mellanox is one of the biggest names in networking there is. This is great news that Gigabyte is doing this. SFP+ is only used for up to 10 gigabit, so there is no point in pushing it as a new connection format for home users or businesses moving into that speed category. SFP28 supports up into 25 gigabit, so you will already have the cables from using this card for future upgrades as well

The chipset supports 100GBe; there is CLN4C44, which have 4x25GBe ports, also in SFP28 format. But... the price for Mellanox... huh!

It's quite obvious the article is referring to the their "ConnectX-4" adapter used and not "Mellanox" in general.
A little courtesy goes a long way but yeah, keep posting the good stuff.
The guy obviously can't read to save his life. Because HH explicitly refers to the chip itself, and not the company; not once but twice! a fairly unknown IC the Mellanox ConnectX-4
While there is very little to report on the card, the interesting thing remains to be the use of a fairly unknown IC, the Mellanox ConnectX-4".

I will be more intrested when these chipest get intergrated in to Motherboards, but it about time we start seeing faster then 1gbit nic's

Hahaha. You two must be as dense as the article's author. ConnectX line is the primary line of product for Mellanox, in both Ethernet and Infiniband. You two are really trying to imply people are well familiar with Mellanox and have no clue what their primary product line is at the same time? o_O

Integrating faster NICs in general, sure. Integrating a ConnectX chip specifically? Not going to happen. That would increase the cost of the motherboard by $200-300 for that chip alone with what Mellanox would sell it for.
