Hilbert ... if you can see this message, I have a bit of a suggestion: How about talking about the fact that this (as far as I know) is a stock PCB with a cooler added on it. The ASUS 980Ti DirectCU3 for example has a custom PCB with more robust components. That should deffinetly be an important factor if you were to compare the 2 cards since the better components on the ASUS should insure longer life or better stability with a long time OC, right ?

The ASUS 980Ti DirectCU3 for example has a custom PCB with more robust components. That should deffinetly be an important factor if you were to compare the 2 cards since the better components on the ASUS should insure longer life or better stability with a long time OC, right ?

Nice one, a 980ti pissing all over Titan X, no matter what game, what benchmark. Even snapping at the heels for 980 SLI!!! These cards are amazing. Unless people go 3 way SLI under water, this is a much better option than a Titan X. Also, that Fury X Fire Strike Extreme graphics score that was leaked yesterday, hitting sub 8k... This card does 9.6k at stock!!! AMD are in for a world of pain, they will have to sell the Fury X cheap.

Went to their website and checked out what they had to say... it does seem like an improoved PCB (their Ultra Durable VGAâ„¢ thing) but somehow it doesen't feel like much compared to the ASUS variant or the EVGA Classified(altough the Class. is a lot more expensive than the Gigabyte one). Probably the much wider PCB's on ASUS and EVGA is what gives that impression.

I'm not sure if that score is stock. I have the identical card and my stock is 8.5K or there about. Rig is 4.5GHz 5960X, 3200 mem, 4G uncore, latest driver etc. I'll re-check but that could be the overclocked score, posted by mistake. It is a beastly card though that's for sure. Wiped the floor with the TitanX

I dare to say you have a bit of a brand preference 😉 That's ok ! You can discuss wide PCBs etc all you want, but the truth is that it often only helps for sub-zero cooling etc whereas air- and liquid cooling pretty much tops out the same for most brands overclocking and lifespan wise. These GBT cards run at 70 Degrees C, heat is not an issue (aside from the ventilation you need inside the PC).

That's what I also read from his post, he seems butthurt this Gigabyte one may be better after all than the ASUS counterpart (which we don't really know), but still, that we read from your post. Rofl. 😀 Why are you even talking about an ASUS card that "supposedly'" has more robust components in a gigabyte topic, wtf? 😀

Gigabyte has nice cooling solutions but both my previous 780 and my current 980 suck when it comes to OC. What I find maddening is that I'm able to get up to around +260 on the core without crashing outright or any artifacting but the driver inevitably crashes at random.

Well, according to the review, it's the "out the box" score for the 980ti G1. So I'm going to assume that's what it is.

Looks nice indeed, but Gigabyte won't see a penny from me, 100% broken products from my experience. Maybe I'm just unlucky though, others seem to have much better luck when it comes to their products.

I've had the same experience which is a shame because I don't mind those Windforce coolers. If I wasn't in such a rush to grab a 980Ti I would have waited for the MSI aftermarket cards.

Sounds like the OC isn't 100% stable. It sometimes takes a while for the OC to wreak havoc. All it needs is for there to be a "hiccup" at one point, and thats it. So far my 290 on water has virtually no headroom. +100/+100 core/mem. still playing with the OC occassionally. On Topic : This is one beast of a card ! Thoroughly beating a Titan X is no small feat.

yeah, it is almost on par with 980 SLI, which is MILES ahead of 580 SLI. If I was on 580 SLI, I'd just get a 980ti and be done with it.

REMOVED -> Seriously ? Although this is besides the point that it's a great review of the Gigabyte version. Eagerly awaiting reviews of the custom ASUS ans MSI cards.
