but is it stuck at 8x or does it switch to 8x if you populate those m.2 slots? its only a valid 16x 3.0 replacement if the card is pcie4 like the 5500xt series

Reinforced RAM slots? Sure, why not.

the ATX 24 pin looks also reinforce, which is nice. As for RAM slots, that would not change the horrible concave slot introduced with DDR4.

While I don't like the styling/bling, I do trust Gigabyte motherboards. They never failed me. Sadly I cannot say the same for their graphics cards (fans start to rattle and die soon after).

this is a great idea for super clean, Sata free builds. not everyone needs the x570

Have this and more on my boards already. X570 Aorus Xtreme and tRX40 Aorus Xtreme setups.

Wonder if the RGB Fusion software will not work, break its own installation often and work crabby like it currently does on its x570 series and beyond ( along with the rest of the useless gigabyte produced software)

A tRX40 Aorus Xtreme would certainly do it, damn nice feature set, a wee bit sore on the wallet though.

Gonna go with one these and ryzen 4000. Hopefully 4600x will be 8c/16t this time around.

Considering the two bottom slots have the labelling "PCIEX4_1" and "PCIEX4_2", I would rather state that this mobo has all three PCIe expansion slots as PCIE4 compatible. The two bottom slots are PCIE x4 electrical, quite clearly. The top M2 would be PCIE4 from the CPU, and the next two would be PCIE3 or SATA from the chipset. Its better to have extra expansion possibilities, than three really fast M2 drives we can't max out yet.

I am sure about 2 things. All these reinforced slots and chokes must be expensive and this is most likely just 4+2. I guess we will know answer soon enough.

Hmmm, maybe Zen 3 has more PCIe lanes available?

Glad I have an x570 for Zen 3...;) (If I decide to pick one up, that is.) It would seem to me that the B550 would completely quash the temporary fervor of people wanting to run Zen3 on x370s,etc. The PCIe4 support adds a lot to the budget mboard support, imo.

Truth is, I am perfectly fine with all my Zen 2 processors on my B350, X370 and B450 boards. They are quite fast and I am losing out on nothing. I just love the fact that there are now real reasons to upgrade. 🙂

Though not as clean, there are PCIe to M.2 cards out there, and they're pretty cheap. Even if the mobo won't recognize them as boot devices, you can reserve the built-in M.2 slot for your OS.

I've got a RIITOP PCIe to M.2 adapter that works great and was dirt cheap.... Probably the best adapter card I've ever bought.

Hopefully we see these boards soon. I'm about to do a new build for a friend and the 570 is overkill for his needs.

I wish these were here already. 3300x + this motherboard and the 5600xt i already have would make the perfect combo. Love my old 1155 mobo but it seems to be giving up after 7-8 ? Years.

I'm sick of waiting. This board may send me over the itch to build cliff.
