So, despite the chip having been disabled quite majorly (Ti has +30% cores added to vanilla 4070), the base clock had to be dropped so low to shave off 85W? I can't help but feel the chips for 4070 have poor quality.

Maybe they set default max gpu voltage lower than on Ti variant, this can save these 85Watts.

Be careful of poor dram always buy gpus with samsung drams, the ones with micron or others have poor quality especialy if you oc, you are gambling in that case !!

@loracle not really, increasing VRAM from 22 to 24Ghz will only increase power consumption by about 10-15W.

why ? 4080 is very power efficient but it actually only saves 26% power compared to 4090 by dropping 41% in fp32 and 8G memory too. 4070 would save 30% power with a 27.5% fp32 drop and still using same memory config. so it's a much less noticeable performance loss while power savings are slightly higher. 4070 will be ~3080 performance at 200W, that is a 320W card. I'd be happy with the specs if those were true.

Be careful of Samsung's PR department entering the thread.

Hopefully, this 4070 will have raster performance at the level of the 3080 ti (or slightly higher) with a price of around US$599 to 649 max.

since Nvidia found a "magic" $100 to drop the price of the 4070ti/4080 12gb, i'm very curious as to the actual pricing at the time of release in April. this is usually the sweet spot for Nvidia GPU's where they can match profitability with production. however, there are 3080's still factory wrapped in the ecosystem and selling where the market takes them. by April if they're still around they'll be depressing the sales of the 4070, but then again if they've been sold that also depresses the demand for 4070. personally, i'd just get the 4070 (if i was in the market) for the improvements and the node shrink, but only if it was within $100. if it was more than that over a 3080 you've got to question your application(s).

You'll need to prepare 900€ if you want to buy this card. #BeyondFast #FramesWinGames #RTXon #fastest70ever

Lol, hasn't this card been launched yet - lol, what a snore fest!

It just seemed like a huge drop in clocks on top of the huge drop in cores. But I suppose you are right.

If the prices start at 800 euros, which might actually happen, I will forget about the card. 4060 (Ti) specs seem ridiculous, which means that I'd need to forget about Nvidia entirely.

the specs are fine given the 200W power draw, I'm actually excited to see a 200W xx70 card again, but all depends on price. 499 would be good. 599 would be acceptable. 699 (what I expect) is very steep, will probably skip at that price and see what lower cards offer.

They offer 8gb on a 128bit bus, unacceptable. Basically you will be forced to buy 4070 in order to upgrade and 699$ is what i expect as well.

128-bit on what, the 4060 that'll replace the weak ass 3060 that's basically same as 2060 Super ? 4070 will have 12g with +500G/s bandwidth , 3080 performance at 200w, that's a great upgrade from 3060Ti.

It will offer 3070 performance with the same memory limitations and less bandwidth. 4070 looks better but at 699$ not so much.

even if 4070 is 700, surely there has to be a card around 500-600 and it's not going to be the 8g 128-bit 4060, that will be 400 worst case scenario.
