I would wait for RTX 3080 with 20GB memory

So it can reach the theoretical + 18% performance somewhere, that is good. Rtx 3080 10 or 20gb will likely have the same performance. As soon i discover how much time i will have to invest in gaming this year, i ll decide between the 3070 or 3080 and a new 1440p 120hz monitor.

I really expected more from 3090 than 10% increase. Massive price tag for card that should have been called Titan Ampere but nvidia marketing strikes again.
data/avatar/default/avatar01.webp
So 0%-12% from the 3080 for double the money 😱

Thanks for the review HH, totally not worth the cost unless you have certain requirements. Lots of resolutions seem to hit a CPU bottleneck or a game limit. Think I will wait for a 20gb 3080, that over clocked would get insanely close to this. If this was similar to last year starting at 1200 I'd considering it a bit more, but the extra 300 puts it out of normal means

Review appreciated, price tag is not. Not for the minimal performance difference. Though we have to remember this isn't strictly for gaming...we just take it that way. I feel bad for those who want this like I do those looking for a 3080 still. The bot situation is out of hand. Edit: Shameless plug: Anyone that wants a 2080 coming from something less, and wants it at a decent price, check out my sale thread right here on guru3d 😀

That and AMD's upcoming cards, 3090 looks like a disappointment, 8K @ 60FPS my **** Not that I intend to run an 8K screen, just want a card that performs well at 4K with maxed image quality while staying cool with a frame limit applied.

Fun to read 🙂 So, who bought one?

yep such underwhelming performance, nvidia is mad at it again, milking money.

You can say what you want, but for the money they ask this card just sucks. The huge wattage is also a big no, but this also is the case for the 3080. GeForce 3000s are the top performing cards at the moment. so they can't be called a fiasco, but I was hoping for a lot more… expecially on the efficiency side. They aimed for a level of performance that their current tech wasn't ready for… the completely unreasonable TDP shows just that.

Kinda wish you called out Nvidia's bullshit marketing slides for 8K gaming. Their marketing needs to be reigned in and called out. It's borderline just making up numbers at this point. The card should have been labelled a Titan and gaming should have been taken off the table.

Funny how people keep saying double the price for 10% performance. It has freakin' 24GB of VRam, which adds atleast 400 dollars to the cost. On top of that it has a way bigger cooler, which is also a 100 bucks, and add 300 bucks for the extra cores etc etc. The price is perfectly on point. Keep dreaming if you think the 3080 20GB is going to go for 700 as well.

I do wonder looking at a bunch of reviews if 10gb even holds the 3080 back. See a few reviews where they look at 8k games and the differences between the cards are about the same 10-15% Meaning the 3080 is clearly not being bottlenecked by vram as that is going to require the most. Think the big issue with vram is we are so in the dark about it. Just cause after burner shows me using 8gb in cod doesn't mean it actually needs or wants that amount. Just that it's allocating it on a just in case situation. It could in fact only need 4 or 5 but with no way of telling it can become quite hard for us consumers to make a good choice.

10% more performance but 50% more cost... Not worth it. Yet the cards are still sold out lol. Bots and scalpers again?

$500 or 400? Your numbers keep changing and both seem really far off.

Wth only 69c under full load while gaming thats impressive jezus! While non founders edition cards run quiet hotter about 75-78c weird.

And? Is it not still +10% for double the money? Even if it was made of gold, it wouldn't change that fact.

I think people are so salty about the price, because the 3080 has no SLI, and they're forced to get a 3090 if they want to run SLI.

Literally no one cares about SLI. They are salty because Nvidia lied about 8K gaming and they are selling a card that's 10-15% faster for double the price. This isn't rocket science.

There is no SLI support after the end of the year.
