2304 Kepler vs 2560 Maxwell. Hmm. Exactly a ninth more shader units. If this isn't at least more than a ninth faster, the 780 (with 6GB) will still be competition for it's successor, since 6GB should be nice for the moment anyway, little benefit of 8GB ver 6GB vram I'd expect.

If it really REALLY has 64ROPs I might be impressed, and waiting to see how it performs.

I hope they can take some voltage and sub zero cooling without soldering an as5end to it but I dought it

Have they listed the prices already? Because i can´t see them and that´s what i want to know. BTW can we expect a review shortly Hilbert? Thanks.

Saw the other listings yesterday but the pricewatch engine is a new one... if those specs are true, /drool.....

Each maxwell core has about 2x the power efficiency and performs 35% better, confirmed per reviews and as claimed by nvidia's slides of first-gen Maxwell (750 Ti). If it really has 2560 maxwell cores it's going to be probably 25% faster than the 780 Ti.

+1 to that request. Hope to get one myself. Price between 300-400$ I'd expect

I said I'd get one, I won't care about the price 😉

Maybe 25% faster at 720p, but the higher the resolution, the smaller the 980's advantage will become, due to its much smaller bus widt / bandwidth.

Nope. The bandwidth is much less important for maxwell due to the scheduler improvements, 8x the L2 cache, and other architectural changes. Bandwidth is just one factor in performance regardless.

What kind of crackhead would run a 980 at 720p?

I'm buying one. Because I like new stuff.

not worth upgrading my 670's till i get past 1080p 🙁

my 660ti's are still great at 1080p so I will also be waiting

ROFL - Nope. Gibbo has already alluded to the performance and I would trust what he says a lot more than you or Nvidia's slides tbh. And JFYI, if it's 25% faster than a Ti, you can kiss your dreams of a $500.00 card goodbye and say hello to $800 (or more).

i though gibbo was relating price and not perf. when sayin 980 would replace 780

Well, I got the impression he was alluding to both but even then, there is no way that a card that is 25% faster than a Ti is selling for the same price as a Ti, not if Nvidia is involved. I went and found the quotes:
Gibbo: 980 / 970 4GB reference cards with 8GB coming at a later date with custom coolers. Can’t say any more but don’t expect a huge leap in performance over current single GPU stuff. Quote: Gibbo: They replace 780, not 780Ti. Performance wise, my lips are sealed on how it compares to 780Ti, but of course 980 is quicker than 780 for sure!
He is clearly alluding to both price and performance here.

I think you're gonna be surprised!

Nope, I won't be 😀 Judging by what Gibbo said, it doesn't sound like it is 25% faster than a Ti but if it is (and maybe it will be), it most certainly will not be $500.00. I guess what I am saying is, it could very well be 25% faster, hell it could be 50% faster (nobody really knows at the moment), but if it is, the pricing will reflect that. Hey, I'll be happy if it's 25% faster, it's not 40% but it's not 10% either 🙂

Gibbo, Schmibbo! (Sorry, I won't give a more reasoned reply, I've participated in too many threads on this subject today, so can't bring myself to reason it out, but just wanted to say I think you'll be surprised).
