I really hope it's not called the GTX1080... i dunno this pic screams fake to me. The metal shroud seems like it would be pretty damn heavy. I'm waiting until I see something offical from Nvidia.

I also prefer the old design of the refrence coolers, All they did was ass some fancy corners to it and call it a new heatsink lol. I wonder what they have in mind as far as prices go on these things? I am expecting to see Gtx 1070-$ 450 Gtx 1080-$550-$600 Gtx 1080 Ti-$700-$750 The normal routine with Nvidia from what I noticed since the Gtx 500 series. I do wonder if a card like the Gtx 590,690 will be in the making or Gtx 1090- Dual Gtx 1080s-$ $1000-$1200.

Spolier alert maybe? Now I won't buy the new card.

Can't wait to see the benchmarks for this thing

If you are an old school guy like me then before any such resolution was even being dreamed about we had many, many hours of fun with the game 1080. So it doesn't really bother me about the naming scheme. We'll see if it's correct soon enough. As for the shroud i think it's fake and ugly fake at best. Plus i have to go back far back since i had a reference gfx card. I'll wait for Volta and continue to game @ 1080p @ 120hz. In 2018 i'll get Volta and 4k monitor. My 980 G1 runs @ 1600/8000 if needed so at least at 1080p i know i'll get 60+ fps on most games for now and hopefully into 2018.

i'm no expert but that look fake af..

Meh. Ugly shroud to be honest. Haven't really liked the look of the stock coolers for years though.. they're all just variations of the same look really.

the only thing of interest is hybrid coolers or custom water heads, rest all look , MEDIOCRE !!

Good question about pricing was wondering about that myself. As far as pricing goes I see the prices the same way you do. About a 1090 I don't think due to the fact there is only a small market for those cards. Not sure if the Titan Z sold well or not since that was the last dual based GPU card they made.

From a marketing perspective they will never call it 1080 and from that I assume this is fake. The push is now for 4K resolutions and they will never name a GPU for a lesser "resolutions".
I don't recall anyone confusing Geforce GT 720 with 720p resolution. besides, its all profit for Nvidia if someone is actually that dumb to buy a Geforce GTX 1080 over 1070 just because part of the model's name matches his monitor's 1080 horizontal lines of vertical resolution. also, what are the chances that an uninformed 4K user in need for a new GPU will rather wait for GTX 2160 ? that would be like very frustrating 11 generations of geforce series 😀

They skipped doing it for two generations and the Titan line continuing shows they'd rather tap into the crazy side of the high end market over releasing a well priced dual card.

Why make a big deal of the design, the cooling side of it is always facing down in your case anyways so you never really see it. The card on that pic could very well be the actual design, but that is left to see.

Thanks I will, was lucky with my 980ti was able to retain the mid plate which helps and the included 92mm fan blows directly on that area:)

I don't care what it looks like or what's it's called. Just launch it already so I can see how it performs against its predecessor and what ridiculous inflated price tag it has.

Who would buy a reference card anyway? Wait a few months and manufacturers like ASUS will bring out their cards with higher clock speeds and better cooling.
