That thing looks Fugly

The picture here does match that of the previous leak where we saw the milled shroud of the 1080 and 1070 cards. Personally I don't like it, I preferred the sleak simplistic design of the previous generations. But these babies will get watercooled so that won't matter 🙂

From a marketing perspective they will never call it 1080 and from that I assume this is fake. The push is now for 4K resolutions and they will never name a GPU for a lesser "resolutions".

I wont see that in my closed case underneat my desk. I will also slap an Arctic Cooler on it 😉

Couldn't care less what the reference cooler looks like on cards, would put it under water if I'd get myself a Pascal card, or opt for a custom cooler anyway.

Same here, the last reference cards I owned were 2x580s and they were sandwitched one to another due to mobo design and yea... the heat was horrible (and yes, I do realize this was more due to my mobo/case configuration, but I still prefer custom cards).

Oh no, no...if that's not fake i'll have one more reason to keep away from reference design.

Really who cares about how an Nvidia reference stock cooler looks? Like we gonna buy a stock one. GTX1080 is a bad naming scheme marketing wise. It's lengthy, confusing and reminds us the 1080p resolution. Apart from these which I do not care much I would like to know the prices for Europe and the performance. Can't wait for the first reviews.

Looks huge. I was under the impression that the card was going to be smaller

If you don't look straight at it but around it and use your peripheral vision it looks broken af 😀

Move along people, nothing to see. Its same design as old Gtx 470 to 980 with minor changes. Im curious to see the board not the cooling system. Anyone who know chinese wanna told us whats that papers???

That cooler design missed the tessellation stage. 😀

Let's be real here for a moment, yes?
The GeForce GTX 1080 (if it's called that) would be based on a GP104-200 GPU. The GP104 based GTX 1080 would get a 256-bit memory controller tied to 8GB of gddr5x memory. The usage of gddr5x over regular gddr5 remains rather speculative as we might just end up with regular gDDR5 memory (GDDR5X is your standard GDDR5 memory however, opposed to delivering 32 byte/access to the memory cells, this is doubled up towards 64 byte/access. And that in theory could double up graphics card memory bandwidth to 800~1000 GB/sec.
In theory: 256bit GDDR5 ticking at 2GHz (8GHz effective) delivers theoretically up to 256GB/s In very same way GDDR5X ticking at 2GHz (8GHz effective) delivers theoretically up to 512GB/s Theoretical limit is maximum you can ever pull from it if you have perfect memory controller. We know from tests that real bandwidth is always lower. And even that best case theoretical 256bit GDDR5X (512GB/s) requires additional 56% higher clock to reach 800GB/s. So, same way 384bit GDDR5X ticking at 2GHz (8GHz effective) can deliver up to 768GB/s and that 1000GB/s would require GDDR5X at 1.95GHz (7.8GHz effective) with 512bit bus . And those don't look like something we should expect from GTX 1070/1080. Anyway, if they really go with GDDR5X and 256bit bus, it will still allow for much faster GPUs than GTX 970/980 are. (As that promises ~35% higher memory bandwidth than GTX980Ti/Titan X have.)

Yeah don't worry i'm sure EVGA will give it the ACX dual fan treatment.

I actually like it, looks like a mold for a hypercar like the Veneno or Egoista. Still would take a custom cooler any day though.

Are they seriously calling it the GTX 1080? Sounds bizarre from a marketing perspective.

I hope it's fake.

No they will not, and if (big IF) they do that, someone in their marketing department should be fired 😀

even sound bizzare because some people might related to 1080p but not totally confusing... as it released together with *70 series too and most people buying gpu which is enthusiast/gamer should already know that its not related to 1080p if i am nvidia, i might just name it X80... X70 but if we thinking future naming... XI-80 XII-80 and so on seems not so good (maybe only personal preference)

Thought I saw somewhere that these new cards will be called the X80 and X70 (as in X = 10)? Whatever, I am going to try really hard to resist this card and wait instead for the inevitable X80 Ti or whatever it is called. That said, I will probably get caught in all the hype and excitement and buy one anyway. I know am that weak! 🙁
