I'm just gonna be bitchy and say haha, if you bought an overpriced FE then i believe you are too rich and deserve every misfortune that comes your way. ^^

I own (and like very much) an Overlord monitor 1440P IPS 120hz since they were launched... I was excited about fast sync... well looks like it's not that great if you're under the refresh rate and now this... aff... been using 469.2Mhz pixel clock for ages here...

My displays include two 2560x1440 overclocked to 120hz. If I restart the machine (basically only for installing drivers, so it's rare and not a big deal), ~half the time the monitors are all jacked up (out of sync, looks like a 6x2 array of fuzzy mini desktops). I can fix it by unplugging the dl-dvi cables and swapping monitors for a moment, and then swapping the cables back back. 7/10 times that causes them to sync up, and everything is ok. Sometimes I have to repeat it. I assume this is related to the pixel clock... Once in a while (when they are working properly) they will go out for an instant and return, but I think this is a separate issue. It only happens while watching video on one monitor and playing a 3d game on another monitor. Only the display with the game will go mad, and the symptoms are not an array of shrunken desktops, but rather a screen full of colorful static. The gaming screen will return to normal after a second or two. If I wish it to never happen, I only need to not watch video on another display. Note that I have an older nv card just for extra video outputs (for the displays I use for interwebbing/non-gaming-bs), and the static issue is also resolved by removing this card and only running 1080's (and giving up a display). So, I assume this is a driver bug - possibly related to mixing gpu generations. In any case, there haven't been many 1080 drivers out, so I assume these are growing pains. Waiting to see what NV does in the next month or two. -scheherazade

Maybe ToastyX pixel patch program will help?

Well, I can't care less about DVI. And think for long time that it should have been phased out. But having it unintentionally bugged... That's going to be pretty unpleasant surprise for quite a few people.

Even though the news piece says otherwise, it affects both FE's and AIB cards. Heck, even the guy who started the original thread at GeForce-forums had AIB card (Gigabyte GTX 1070 Gaming G1)

I also had an issue where I had to remove the BaseClock OC from my Ivyridge or after booting to Windows the display would switch off on my GTX1080. No biggie as I could only get it to 104 anyway.

As opposed to intentionally bugged? People will be happy if it was intentional ? :P "It ain't a bug, it's a feature" I would be very unhappy if my card had malfunctioning DVI, hope this will be a quick fix for all those involved.

Yes, because we all buy monitors every year. Some of us have been rocking 120Hz monitors since before Display Port was even a thing.

No, as opposite to already dropping it.

Duh? You can be total low cost gamer and still have all candies there are to get. AOC G2260VWQ6 75Hz DisplayPort + Freesync. Check the price. And when it gets to any newer High refresh rate screens. - Cheapest 144Hz screen with and without DP cost exactly same. - And on top of that, If I do not limit price, there are currently 25 high refresh rate (144Hz+) models available. And 22 out of them have DisplayPort. Even at time I got my screen, I could have made choice and buy 10% cheaper without DP. But you look at your connectivity on graphics card and realize you have quite nice set of DPs there. And that DP allows connection of multiple screens. Then you look at DP vs DVI specs. And you make decision. Or just buy random screen which will look nice on your desk and ignore its ports.

Name me another monitor besides QNIX that is at least 27" in size, has an IPS based 1440P panel, runs a 96-120 Hz refresh rate and costs less than ~$300/300€. This monitor was also available before today's 120-144 Hz IPS Panels (which cost $500-$700); therefore, many people bought it. Every monitor that you speak of for the price of less than ~$500 would be a downgrade. People who buy 1070s do not typically want a monitor to "look nice on your desk" to browse the internet with.

Well, if I owned an sample that couldn't drive my korean monitor I'd simply RMA it - all the more so if it turns out to be a hardware issue.

Hopefully there will be a fix via a bios and / or driver update for the graphics card so that the people affected can use their monitors via DVI.
