I'm just gonna be bitchy and say haha, if you bought an overpriced FE then i believe you are too rich and deserve every misfortune that comes your way. ^^

I own (and like very much) an Overlord monitor 1440P IPS 120hz since they were launched... I was excited about fast sync... well looks like it's not that great if you're under the refresh rate and now this... aff... been using 469.2Mhz pixel clock for ages here...

My displays include two 2560x1440 overclocked to 120hz.
If I restart the machine (basically only for installing drivers, so it's rare and not a big deal), ~half the time the monitors are all jacked up (out of sync, looks like a 6x2 array of fuzzy mini desktops).
I can fix it by unplugging the dl-dvi cables and swapping monitors for a moment, and then swapping the cables back back. 7/10 times that causes them to sync up, and everything is ok. Sometimes I have to repeat it.
I assume this is related to the pixel clock...
Once in a while (when they are working properly) they will go out for an instant and return, but I think this is a separate issue. It only happens while watching video on one monitor and playing a 3d game on another monitor.
Only the display with the game will go mad, and the symptoms are not an array of shrunken desktops, but rather a screen full of colorful static.
The gaming screen will return to normal after a second or two.
If I wish it to never happen, I only need to not watch video on another display.
Note that I have an older nv card just for extra video outputs (for the displays I use for interwebbing/non-gaming-bs), and the static issue is also resolved by removing this card and only running 1080's (and giving up a display).
So, I assume this is a driver bug - possibly related to mixing gpu generations.
In any case, there haven't been many 1080 drivers out, so I assume these are growing pains. Waiting to see what NV does in the next month or two.

Maybe ToastyX pixel patch program will help?

Well, I can't care less about DVI. And think for long time that it should have been phased out.
But having it unintentionally bugged... That's going to be pretty unpleasant surprise for quite a few people.

Even though the news piece says otherwise, it affects both FE's and AIB cards.
Heck, even the guy who started the original thread at GeForce-forums had AIB card (Gigabyte GTX 1070 Gaming G1)

I also had an issue where I had to remove the BaseClock OC from my Ivyridge or after booting to Windows the display would switch off on my GTX1080.
No biggie as I could only get it to 104 anyway.

Well, if I owned an sample that couldn't drive my korean monitor I'd simply RMA it - all the more so if it turns out to be a hardware issue.

Hopefully there will be a fix via a bios and / or driver update for the graphics card so that the people affected can use their monitors via DVI.
