Advice for safe gaming Here are Kaspersky Lab’s top tips for gaming security: •Don’t click through on any offers that look too good to be true, whether from your inbox or on social networks like Facebook or Twitter. If an offer does come through that looks legitimate, ensure the sender is trusted before hitting a link or handing over any details. If in doubt, contact the official company the sender claims to be from. •Use strong and varied passwords across your gaming accounts. As we’ve seen this year, gaming companies get hacked and logins are leaked. If you don’t have different credentials, getting one set stolen means all your different accounts using that same password could be compromised. Consider investing in a password manager, as it will give you simple, smart protection. •Get a good quality antivirus application. With the rafts of gaming malware out there, and the increasing sophistication of the malicious software, you’ll need some level of protection against it. You’ll need an antivirus program that goes beyond signature-based detection to look at file reputation, if you want to stop the smartest malware getting on your system. •Be careful who you befriend. It’s easy to make friends in virtual worlds today, but not all are doing so innocently. Beware anyone who asks for your personal details, as they may want to do more than just contact you. •Only download titles from legitimate sellers. If you’re downloading an illegal copy of a game, you aren’t just breaking the law. You’re risking getting malware on your machine, as crooks often disguise game files as malicious software.
In other words:- 1. Don't be gullible 2. Don't install Java

A prime example of a malware/virus infect game is A:CM, upon launching it, it does the following in sequence: 1. BSOD 2. REBOOT PC 3. DELETES ALL PARTITIONS & FORMATS 4. AUTOMATICALLY REINSTALLS WINDOWS Very destructive variant, be warned 🙂

Extra tips for online security: Don't let browsers save autofill forms and login passwords. Your laziness makes it even easier to get your account credentials stolen.
Isn't the information in autofill forms encrypted in browsers anyway? Making it safer than typing stuff in.

I have java, but it isnt enabled anymore, I only keep it cause 2 of the sites I been using for years to test my ISP performance needs it to work right. One being Pingtest.net other being some of the test at broadbandreports.com. If i find site I trust that use it I just enable java from CP and then disable when done

You mean they pump out little .exe with names to get people to click them like "FREECOD.exe"? WOW, my eyes are opened! This tactic and others like it have been happening for decades. edit Though the stolen accounts usually happen because the security of the game company itself is breached. So, yeah, strong and different passwords for each account you have online: http://keepass.info/

I'm glad you're a master at not paying for software, but you're overestimating the intelligence of the average PC user. Google "COD Chosts torrent" and the third result is some malware site.
