I don't think any of these events will be going ahead this year, I think there's a good chance of that happening. I think this virus is going to spread throughout the world & populations, and what we are doing to prevent it is only slowing it down...which is the right thing to do because it means that gives more time for health services to deal with the sick...if it is allowed to spread too quickly it will overwhelm the health services with the large number of severe cases. I don't think this virus is going to be stopped though...the only hope is for them to come up with a workable vaccine very quickly, which is being worked on - that's the only way this will be prevented from spreading throughout the world. Given what I've said I think it's gonna take most of this year to run it's course...although thinking about it now as I'm typing this...it's related to the flu virus, as in it's more transmissable & more likely for the virus to survive during cold wet Winter months rather than the hot Summer months - maybe it's possible they'll be able to slow down it's spread enough until the Summer weather works it's magic...but then again it's only Summer in one hemisphere, so it might flip-flop between the two hemispheres...the Northern hemisphere might be able to make it through to Summer without it spreading everywhere, but I doubt it, that's about 3 months away and illnesses tend to spread at exponential rates unless they're slowed down. Maybe some of these events could happen in the Summertime then in the Northern hemisphere, but maybe it'll still be present in the Southern hemisphere at that point due to it being Winter there..so maybe they would have to ban travel to these events from Southern hemisphere countries if they are go ahead with it in the Summer. Just thinking out loud, of course I'm not sure how this will pan out!

Events with large groups of people, especially grouped indoors, are getting cancelled left and right now. Seems prudent. I'm watching my favorite baseball team in Spring Training as we speak. The season starts in 3 weeks. I wonder if this will dramatically affect attendance.

The flu kills hundreds of thousands of people each year, and it's an afterthought in the headlines. I think in 90 days, even as the coronavirus continues to run it's course, people will be tired of talking, hearing, and worrying about it. Best wishes to anyone who gets sick. Yeah, people afraid of a change and what they don't know. Media blows it out of proportion, people panic and get tired. I am all for the precaution and prevention of spreading the virus. Difference with flu is that you can't get rid of it. Same with car accidents, much more people die in car accidents, yet not much done to prevent it, can't fix people. So people just get numb to and its become part of their lives. Corona? Well, once you enough people vaccinated so majority have immunity to it, it will eventually perish... unless it evolves. But I am not specialist, just assuming here.

Regarding Covid-19, apparently there are four main strains of flu that go around the world every year (which they seem incapable of stopping or eradicating) - they have said that this may become the fifth strain, and they are trying to prevent that from happening.

GTC is still going ahead, it's going to be a live stream instead of a conference.

The responsible thing to do. Been watching this closely since early January. China looks to have gotten it under control somewhat (yes, I partially trust their numbers, because I talk with Chinese medics that are my friends for years each day and they confirm the harsh quarantine working). Problem is, the West is incredibly irresponsible with all the freedom of movement and lax borders stuff, EU/Schengen etc., and Africa (but also East EU, Middle East) is very unprepared to deal with this. It's not the high mortality, it's the limited ICU beds, the limited resources in general, the lack of training for medical personnel, lack of funding etc. Economies recover, lost human lives do not.

Things will only get worse the coming months. Countries responded way too late and were not concerned about this at all. Remember there won't be a vaccine until 2021, so the spreading has to be delayed for as long as possible. Main problem right now is that spreading can occur atleast a week before symptoms show up.

Vaccine won't work with CoV anyway as Memory T cells aren't being retained after recovering from the infection. Please tell me how this is a natural occuring virus.

It's been discussed by doctors here in Aus, Both our geography and lack of regional hospital readiness has lead to trying times, in treating it properly. It behaves in some ways like a measles strain that consumes the bodies ability to produce antibodies and helper cells.

That's confirmed, people have indeed been reinfected already after being declared healed.
