50ns is not possible. I'm getting ~61ns with 3900x and 3800c14 1:1 in Aida 64 memory benchmark.

This is more like it. Its been same old for so long, you can buy low CAS ram with low clocks and clock it high with high CAS, or just buy it like that for silly money. Now there is high speed low CAS, wooo. Prices will hopefully change all round now and clock this new ram even higher! Anyone know what brought this around, a newer type of B die or better perhaps?

it could be a high bin of 8Gb b-die , mainly the very high voltage of 1.5v tells its probably nothing particularly new, seems they took some of their 4600-4800 cl 18 kits and clocked them down to 4000 cl 15, which makes sense, since there is very little point in running such high frequencies at the current time on intel and amd.

1.5v is the dimm voltage, the voltage that touches the cpu will be much lower(<1v typically).

frequency means higher bandwidth and lower latency. So high frequency tweaked for low latency is the best πŸ™‚ Atleast for dualchannel setups that lacking bandwidth.

Depends on what you do really, games are incredibly latency dependant compared to that of other applications, while true increasing the speed of the memory does reduce latency but it's very very small with the biggest performance coming from increased bandwidth which games do not normally care about but how quick it can fetch data and this is where CAS timing play a far bigger role. In games 3200CL14 is faster than 3800 CL18, now with Ryzen 3000 quad ranked is faster than single and dual ranked which is not sometime we see with dual channel setups but performance is increased when going to 4 DIMM slots filed assuming the memory used is single ranked i.e Samsung B dies are normally single ranked. But high capacity memory can be dual ranked on a single stick, 16GB DIMMs will most likely be dual ranked to begin with.

You can calculate the equivalent rated frequency/Mt/s for a given true latency and cas (1000/(8.75ns/cas))*2=(megatransfers/rated mhz ) so in this case for cl 14 its 3200mt/s , cl 17 its 3886mt/s and for cl19 its 4343mt/s it ect if you want a memory kit with latency equivalent to say a 3200 cas 14 kit at a higher frequency, this can be useful for avoiding not so great kits, like 4000 cl19 .

What we do is overclocking b-die memory. Tweaking 2. and 3. Timings too. 3200c14 and 3600c15 is often the best bins, and overclocks like crazy πŸ˜€
