This board in theory makes no sense but in practise it makes lots of sense.
Why? Because there are people who like computers and have so much money that 2200 dollars is pocket change for the them and they are the ones who are going to buy this.
This is just a reflex of our current economical situation were the people with money are getting even richer and people without money are getting even worse...

1) after distrusting Gigabyte for 10 years (unannounced spec changes post reviews, etc..) and laughing at them entering the psu market, after long examination i bought the X570s Aero G which is awesome. they can build a proper mobo.
2) there is no reason now or ever to buy any Z690 motherboard. wait for next year when Meteor Lake comes out with the advantage of less expensive DDR5 (economies of scale) and a far more powerful CPU with all the compatibility bugs ironed out. and doubtlessly a new chipset.
3) i run a custom loop and had been an hedt guy (until 5950x). this z690 mobo costs as much as my 5950x, X570s Aero G, EK-Quantum Kinetic FLT 120 pump/res, RM 850 psu, (2x) Crucial P5+ 2Tb pcie 4.0, Black Ice Nemesis 420mm, primochill 280mm, and a 12-pack of hard tube fittings.
which is pretty freaking high end by itself. only mu GPU (6800xt) pushes it past the cost of the z690 mobo by itself.

GGF Events - they'll end up in some special case that InWin is only making 10 of at their booth at some convention, usually. I imagine the people like him are buying multiples of them for future builds.
200 (the board in the picture shows the number on it), and these are usually sold out as soon as they are released. They usually get snatched up by people who sell super-high-end custom loop builds where the owner has no price limit such as SamuelL421

The only reason's I spent as much as I did on my ASUS DARK HERO, was for my 5950X , and DOCS
but 2200 dollars for a MB , good reason to show off

Tbh, PC hardware is a relatively cheap hobby. Compared to hi-end audio, where separate components can go for more than $10k ea., its nothing.

If you really want to go in the deep end, some audio components can cost more than changing a $2000 mobo every year for the rest of your life. 😀

You really ought to learn a thing or two about thermodynamics before posting this kind of "educational" post lol. If you are worried about PC heating up your room you are not doing any less heating with water or air, the net is exactly the same. Only thing the water is doing is being more efficient at it meaning it exchanges heat faster and also itself acts as a heatsink volume. If theres a CPU that is converting its activity into 300W of heat then thats 300W of heat being displaced either by air or water and there is no way around that in terms of heating the environment (room) that its exchanging to. Why do we use hot water in the radiators to heat up homes in the winter, cuz its inefficient for heating up rooms? 😀

My HD650s are almost 20 years old. I won't buy another pair of headphones until they die on me.

Seems some people never checked Air Conditioning prices (+ adequate windows/doors to isolate your place). it is not expensive compared to burning money for tuning your computer every year.
