Am i the only one who thinks that Folding At Home uses processing power to solve their own mysteries or for some other reasons? Because nor i neither my colleagues sees any advance in medical science from f@h. Any facts or opinions? =) F@H shows a lot of "work" they're done, but it really doesn't mean anything, at least so says medical science group in few universities.

i've seen my own one"s".... dying [for months]..... and nothing.....i said 'nothing' could save them........ till i beg (looking above) on my knees..... and said: dnt make them suffer.... therefore..... if atleast an idle system is doing nothing with the same approx. power wattage consumption..... is just like F@H calls you a "donor"....... not a single drop of blood is needed....> :kind:

If system is IDLE FAH turns it in not IDLE, at power consumption goes double =)

and
with the same approx. power wattage consumption
leaving a system idle...

Please note that generally, it takes up to a year for the results to be published. The reason is that F@H publishes peer-approved papers which can take time (https://folding.stanford.edu/home/happy-holidays-looking-back-at-2013-and-forward-to-2014/). One of the recent papers published by F@H is related to Cancer which may help find novel drug design (https://folding.stanford.edu/home/new-fah-research-in-cancer-published-in-nature-communications/). Another F@H researcher is dealing with drug repurposing which is helping in Chagas Disease and Dengue fever (https://folding.stanford.edu/home/pg-member-paul-novick-thesis-defense-drug-repurposing-successes-so-far/). Also, you can access a list of over 110 peer-approved papers that F@H has published (http://folding.stanford.edu/home/papers). When it comes to F@H, there are two different levels of interaction. The first is where Donors fold WUs. Since there is a significant amount of data to be processed, it does take time and it can be quite. The other level is where the entire scientific community benefits from the F@H work even if they aren't using F@H directly. This level is sort of hidden from the regular donors since they may not be aware of it. You see, F@H contributes to OpenMM which is what the GPUs use to fold the F@H WUs (https://folding.stanford.edu/home/watch-fahpg-code-development-in-action/). Other researchers can do the same by using OpenMM for their needs. They also do contribute to other models that scientists use to help understand the protein’s atoms physical interaction (https://folding.stanford.edu/home/making-dramatic-improvements-to-the-models-used-to-study-proteins/). Do note that the Biophysical Society has shown an interest in the work of F@H (https://folding.stanford.edu/home/fah-at-biophysical-society/). Moreover, rather than just Stanford using F@H, there is a Folding@Home Consortium where various research groups from different universities across the globe harness the power of F@H to help advance scientific discoveries and understanding (https://folding.stanford.edu/home/about-us/). Thus, I would say that F@H is a pretty powerful research tool which benefits mankind 🤓 Regarding the power usage, it depends on how you have configured F@H. The default option will always try to be in the Medium power usage. However, you can always configure it to use more or less power very easily by adjusting a slider. For further options, you can always ask and receive appropriate help. Moreover, there are donors who fold only during the winter time so they can heat their rooms. That too is fine and F@H is perfectly happy with that kind of donation too. Hopefully, you will now consider joining the Guru3D F@H Team 🙂
