I played the first 2, and honestly I was not a huge fan...FC2 was okay story wise but had no gameplay elements for me. FC5 is awesome. I can say I am enjoying this game.

Very interesting video. if you go back in time and show this video to people in 2008 nobody would believe you this is Farcry 5 in 2018. it shows how much video games regressed in recent years. now developers put much less effort to innovate than marketing and creating hype. unfortunately it works for them too ( Far Cry 5 broke franchise sales records and some people love this game despite all the shortcomings).
I haven't played FC5 yet, but during my FC4 playthrough at no point was I like "man I really wish I could shoot branch limbs off of trees" - it's a cool thing to see but it doesn't add anything to the experience for me long term, in fact without this video I didn't even remember those were features in FC2, that's how little impact they had on my experience. Plus the real reason isn't like "hurr durr lets regress the game" it's more a time trade off "well we can either add 50 more missions to the game or have those designers make every tree breakable" I'll personally choose the 50 missions. Or for "well we can do this cool soft shadow technique or have extremely distant but high quality LODS but neither are compatible with destructible trees" then maybe the shadows, etc are a better to the overall experience.

Disappointed with the comments. 1.) Repetitive? Keep playing 500 versions of Mario and Call of Duty. 2.) Claiming FARCRY 2 was better? You joking?????????? FARCRY 2 was one of the WORST games ever made. Have fun with your guns jamming every few shots, car breaking down like every 10 mins. Getting Malaria every 20 mins was annoying. Oh let me also say the re-spawning of the same bad guys from the places you just killed them and drive back a min later seeing all of them there again! Also the boring depressing bare landscape coated in brown "artwork". Some of us like freedom and to savior the beautiful landscape of the other FARCRY games.

It's not just about shooting branch limbs. Farcry 2 was very innovative for it's time. I never forget the first time I installed it and played it on my New PC. I was like WOW this game is like nothing I've experienced before. yes it has it's own problems like repetitive missions but compensated with a very immersive open world. I haven't played Farcry5 yet, but from many gameplay videos I watched on Youtube there was nothing innovative, new or even interesting to draw my attention. I don't know maybe I should play the game to understand the hype behind it.

I'm not saying Farcry2 is better than Farcry5 in every way but we are comparing a 10 year old game with a new game!!! they should not be even comparable in any way. the fact that there are aspects that are better on Farcry2 from ten years ago is mind blowing to me.

There was really nothing with FARCRY 2. Just dirt, twigs, some dead tree's, buildings, was there even any water? lol. I played it for a week and had to force myself but just couldn't stand the game. I do give credit with the DAY/NIGHT cycle and their big innovation of FIREworks. Yes their selling point during the presentation from the developers was the realistic FIRE. FARCRY2 was just a dead dull world. We all have our opinions.........................

So many cynics and fun-haters here. Based on comments it seems like most of Guru3D community is probably getting old now, in their 30s and 40s, still living out nostalgia days of original Doom, Duke Nukem, Quake, Command & Conquer, Unreal Tournament etc., but the world has moved on... Yeah these were great games but there are plenty of good new games as well.

O ya , Duke Nukeam 3D and Heretic were my first I think , ... I am still searching for an old detective game from that period but ... my brain remembers so little.

who are you talking to? When i get back from the post office , just collecting my pension, i will have another good say about this! Just got back! Far cry the original was away ahead of any other game out there at the time, thanks to FC others followed. That's how saw it back when i was 55 yrs old 😀 You know I am joking? 😱

@Glottiz Sure, there are plenty of good new games. FC5 isn't one of them though. Now that I'm done with it I don't see how FC5 is any less dull and unfun than FC2 was. Same sh*t stripped out of gameplay mechanics with a skin on top. FC5 will be the last thing I ever buy from Ubisoft for sure. Thank god I didn't end up working for these thieves, that was close.

Well technically it is worse then a 10year old game and that is just weak. Ok there are instances where it looked a bit over the top, Fc2 car blowup- how it made a flip, Fc5 had that more realistic. But other stuff, like fire interaction, or rocket launcher, or certain AI behaviour or disappearing corpses by nades looked really weak. Also no active daytime is another minus. If you go all big with this, imo tiresome open world theme, better do a proper job not something half-ass xD

I own all the Far Cry games, 3 was always my favourite but 5 in insane fun, if you use your imagination there is some serious fun to be had especially and more so in co-op ...... Yes i agree the story ain't the greatest but the world itself is vast, beautiful and there so much going on also I have never had a single bug yet ..... Not a single crash or anything, it runs amazingly fluid on ultra with my GTX 1070, i7 6700k & 16GB RAM. Not everybody's cup of tea but what is?

Check out this vid. Far Cry 2 has way more advanced AI and dynamic gameplay/physics than Far Cry 5. Keep in mind that this game is 10 years old. Games technical innovation is degressing. [youtube=FCeEvQ68jY8]
About this, you must remember 1 very important thing: the original Far Cry was made by Crytek partnered with Ubisoft, then Crytek partered with EA so Ubisoft aquired the rights for the Far Cry franchise. So Crytek-EA Crysis was released in 2007 and turned out to be a revolutionary game in terms of graphics, physics and mechanics, so as in games, as in any business, you look to and try to at least equalize with the competition and Crytek-EA Crysis was that, so then they had to match what they could. But after that, not many games featured such mechanics, so they stopped being part of the "benchmark", being other things the important "new features". Remember that featuring such things is a cost in time and money, factors that obviously oppose the business practices. It would be nice if newer games featured all the advances that once were out there, but that is not how it really Works. (And I'm not sure usual gamers do care about those advances really, they didn't cared about good audio, good physics, realism, story, etc in most games...)

Gamers really are their own worst enemy. Lapping up the same old, rinse & repeat franchise crap, year in, year out. 🙄
I both agree and disagree with this. I don't see anything wrong with making another iteration of a franchise, as long as people are happy with the results and people aren't being ripped off. I don't think FC5 is like that. From what I hear, there are enough differences to make it feel refreshing, but, it's still part of the same franchise so it's going to have some familiarity that fans are looking for. That's how things should be done. There are much worse offenders of "rinse & repeat" than the FarCry series, even by Ubisoft.
They're the same morons who think all these garbage Marvel movies are high concept art.
Yeah... after the first Avengers movie was released I was like "I'm done". Though, I started to lose interest once Iron Man 2 was released, too. Just to go on a bit of a tangent: I think Marvel Studios would've been better off creating a TV series. My biggest gripe about the movies is they're too condensed to have any major plot or character development. Meanwhile, they have to accommodate those who may not have seen any of the others, which means the story will become even more bland or repetitive. Having a TV series with hour-long episodes would've fixed this. The season finale could then involve all of the Avengers.

I'm 24 and still played the heck out of all the games you mentioned. Also just because 'the world has moved on' doesn't mean we should be accepting whatever is thrown at us. ---- Although, I would say FC5 isn't one of the bad games. I played FC1 - a one of a kind game at the time, still a great game. FC2 was tedious, boring and empty - it was more about 'look at what the engine can do - go shoot leaves, set fire to vegetation and whatever else can be done'. FC3 had a good story, but the crafting, pointless missions and tower climbing made me lose interest in it fast. FC4 I skipped. I gave FC5 a shot after AC:Origins caught me off guard and I ended up investing more hours than expected in it. I thought I'd give FC5 the benefit of the doubt. Yes the missions are repetitive, but it's a lot of fun. There is so much that can be done - so many different ways of approaching a mission. The game cannot be compared to FC3 or FC4 unless you are comparing mechanics - gameplay is night and day simply from what is at your disposal. FC5 isn't a rinse and repeat, and from what I see - people who are claiming it is haven't played the game. Number one thing I did upon launching the game was to disable all pointless icons, wallhacks, GPS system or whatever else garbage is there to hold our hands throughout the game

This is incredible. The poor physics effects in FC5 are too immersion breaking for an AAA game in 2018. Looks like something out of a sloppy indie game. FC2 despite the tedious gameplay at least had much higher standards for respecting effects realism. Have not played FC5 yet but nothing in any of the vids I've seen has stoked me up for it. I may have been considering the game for its co-op mode, but after seeing this vid, not so sure.

...;) I doubt that would be the case if you had to play on the hardware we had when those games originally shipped. Often it was a very low-res, pixellated mess trying to be a game of some kind, in the very beginning. Doom as it originally shipped and played reminded me of a county fair and the "shooting fish in a barrel" experience (not that I've ever been fortunate enough to actually see that, but I have read about them.) No, I don't miss the old days at all--months and months between notable game releases, years in between tiny hardware advances, and then they came at ridiculous prices. Nope--today is the Golden Age of Computer Gaming, imo!
