That might be a nice compromise, i prefer single player myself, hope Fallout 5 will be more of a New Vegas experience.

Nobody was expecting Fallout 76 in the first place. The response to it under the guise of "expectations" has been laughable.

"Hey guys, we know you're worried about yet another online game, another X or another Y, but just try it out, spend your money on it to keep you afloat in your favourite setting!
And later, when we do Fallout 5, you can go back and spend your money again!
Sorry we didn't make a single player game right away, but we just think we can milk that online gaming survival battle royale trend better!"

Apparently there's not much damage done here. Seems like ESO pays pretty well, or they'd never get the idea to make a Fallout online game, right?

Thing is they are quite different, ESO targeted a now dying genre - MMORPGs, while this surely want to have some of that very trendy PUBG/Fortnite Battle Crapyale $$$.
It's just that players hoped for a new true Fallout game, and I would have been surprised if it had been one, since it's new TES game turn, and AFTER, probably 6+ years from now, a new single player FO. 🙄

Well until the next big thing hits the market, then they're catering to a dying market again. I find it stupid to put battle royale into games that never had it like Battlefield, just trying to eat a cake they never tasted just to get some, I hope it gets stuck in their throat.

Now I really like the idea of Fallout 76, but it seems like the negative feedback they got for Fallout 76 they're already looking to develop Fallout 5? Wouldn't it be funny to see Fallout 5 released at the same time or near the time as 76?!

If this happens, we should put up some bets over which game ends up being more broken on day 0 than the other. I vote 76.

I can't see Falout 5 coming out within the next 5 years, after 76 it will probably be Starfield, then after that the next Elder Scrolls...
At least that's how I see it going.

Yep, 2-3 years for Starfield, another 2-3 for next TES and on top of that another 2-3 for next FO. Minimum 6 years imo, unless they decide to go for FO before the next TES.

Oh i don't know, is it doing well, i know they don't release numbers or player base count so i have no idea how this game is doing, but i suppose if they are sticking the Fallout franchise into that ring then then they must be making money from it, but are their enough whales to go around all these online service type games. lol

Can I throw an alternative theory at the wall here. Fallout 76 is a quick way of making a buck from the Fallout brand because their was no way that they were going to milk F4 for as long and as hard as they did with Skyrim. Just how many copies, modded versions, HD version, remaster, rereleases and VR versions of that game have we had over the years? Maybe I am wrong but didn't Skyrim came out at a perfect time, you had the PS3 and the XBox 360. since then we have had a new gen of console and around 2 or three HD upgrade console variants, a new Nintendo system finally powerful enough for the game came along, we had a side jump, wobble, a big um and a what a waste of time stab at VR from two or three companies and at every single stage Bethesda has been there ready to release yet another version of Skyrim with the od GOTY, Remaster, HD edition thrown in to fill the gaps. The thing is it isn't even a very good ES game but Bethesda sure have milked it hard.

Just hope they can shake up the Fallout a little bit for Fallout 5. It's just like you already know what to expect, another wasteland with the same environment appearance and similar gameplay. I suppose California can be the new location, instead of just bits of it in New Vegas.

Thank God for that. Single player is where Fallout shines. Although I am interested in seeing where 76 goes.
