High price for now because lack of competition, price will probably go down when AMD release their cards...or not.

As expected, utter, utter **** price/performance ratio. And this is the reference model, I always go for non-reference when available and those will be even more expensive.
At this rate I will be forced to get a single card again when Pascal high-end comes out whenever that will be...

Am afraid they know that new radeon wont be as good as all hope and will milk a few dollars with this as yields of hbm chips arent good either.pity. still waiting for pascal but guess i should prepare more money than i expected to pay 🙁

HTBattle says $649 MSRP.

the price of it is bit high because if ur gonna spend that much u might aswell just add a bit more and get the top the range titan x

Those prices... thanks AMD.

What! Outrageous!*
*Remembers when GTX 280 released at $650.

I can't see $799 happening, at that rate you may as well spend more and get a Titan X.

If everyone would stop buying these top end cards "both teams" out of stock in a couple of weeks as soon as they're released, maybe they wouldn't cost so much.. If people could keep from buying for the first month they are out "or longer", they might lower the prices. I know that wont happen though. There are more than enough people who have the money and its just not a big deal for them.

You're missing the point, it's not the price - it's the price/performance.
The GTX 280 was almost 100% faster than a GTX 8800 in some cases, not maximum 30%.
You give me a card that outperforms the GTX 980 by even ~60% (preferably more), I'll happily buy 3 @ $1000USD per.

They are running into the physical limit you can fab a chip at. Titan X is 600mm2. Any larger and you run into massive edge defects. Even at 600mm2 the yields probably aren't great. 28nm is showing its age.
BLEH!
See how quickly the price drops when AMD's new beasty comes out...

TBH I do not think nvidia 6 and 12gb cards are going to be affected by a 4gb fiji.
I hope I am wrong.

i bought my msi 970 for $550 usd in my country (bangladesh). 980 is 900$ here. So i wonder what the 980 ti's price will be...
Elrynill
I bought my ASUS 980 with reference cooler for € 650, which I thought was insane at the time. Now we're looking at €750-800 ? Like hell no ... AMD might spice things up soon. One word of advice: Do NOT buy a 980 ti at launch :P

Well the price is a bit steep for a cut down chip ,
how much better or fps is this going to have over the normal 980, 5-10 maybe more in some games or maybe less for nearly double the price , we will have to wait and see the benchmarks but you all know that it will fall in the middle .
