I think that these gaming chairs, and even regular office chairs, are a lot like shoes. I wouldn't purchase either unless I had a chance to "try them on."

My previous office chair was one I could check out in the store. It served many years splendidly. The current chair I ordered from the net because I couldn't find locally one that would have met both my requirements and the price target. I probably wouldn't have bought this from a store if I could have tried it personally first, instead of ordering blindly from the net. So, yeah, I have to agree with you on that.

Another car chair that's not designed for desk work.

Same, had to goto an office supply shop and tried about 30 chairs, systematically sitting on them, that took 45 mins. Whittled it down to three chairs, spent the next half hour going back and forth between the three before my purchase, got a few funny looks mind you 🙂

Unless they give every member of the guru3d.com staff at least one chair, I won't ever even consider buying one of those tbh.

I agree they are all the same. I really need a new chair, but I don't want one with the frikkin hard armrests. I want padded armrests on any chair I buy. 90% of all these "Gaming Charis" all have the hard plastic armrests or minimally padded ones that will permanently squish down after a couple weeks to months. Been looking at the ones that also recline and a few of them almost look comfortable, some even have a slide out footrest. Both for office chairs and the "Gaming Chairs" just not sure which one to buy because like most of you I really want to be able to sit in it at a store before I drop several hundred dollars on a new chair. Yes, I said several hundred because you usually get what you pay for and the last chair, I bought I spent about 225 - 250 on and it has lasted me for about 7 years now, only need to replace it because the upholstery is peeling due to my cat having sunk his claws into it and damaging the bonded leather. Anyone have any advice as to which ones to avoid like the plague as well as recommendations?

Bonded "Leather" is pretty awful.

Those gaming racing chairs look like carbon copies of each other. They come from the same factory aren't they ?
