They don't even support steam cloud saves or achievements, just basically the same as before, buy on steam but Origin still required. ....only EA game i can find that supports both is the new C&C remaster.

Ah, and it's coming out today! Really looking forward to it.

C&C Remastered on Steam might be the better option, if you want to get into mods. The game will support Steam Workshop, so if you want a convenient way of downloading and managing them.

Yeah I won't bother with buying games that need two launchers after the GTA IV and V fiascos. That was not only downright annoying, but all those hoops you had to jump through just got downright annoying, especially with dodgy internet connections (or installation/activation limits!). I got one game 'free', was an ANNO title I think, with a bundle that had some other things I wanted some time back. Something had to connect to Uplay from Ubisoft and it never would connect to it, so it wouldn't authorize the game I had. I just deleted it all and said the heck with it I'll just stick to Steam or GOG and chalked it up to a loss. I don't mind game developers or publishers wanting to protect their assets, but I've seen my share of dodgy DRM in the last 25 years plus of computing, and to say the least I don't care for it much. That and I can never seem to remember all the different passwords with my PTSD, it did something to my memory for that stuff 🙁 Nice to see C&C name coming back into the light, though. I had that game on my AM486 dx/2 66 machine and the Amiga 'mod music' to it was pretty good (I believe that's what it was, it wasn't midi and was way too soon for mp3's), even if I absolutely stank at it and could never pass the 3rd 'level'. Vote with your dollar, folks!

Next to the Rockstar Launcher, Origin and Uplay are fine.

They all come crying back to steam

What about starwars battlefront2? Can I use activated origin key to activate on steam?

Well, i remember Warcraft III remake.. and previous remakes, so we will see, but expectations are low. I even vaguely remember some CnC on tablets E3 video.

I was at edge of pre-ordering. I still may get it, as I loved those games. If it included RA2 or Tiberian Sun, I would have it already in my library. Thing is that I have C&C Ultimate on Origin (17 games). And then duplicate C&C3 + RA3 on Steam. I played hell from each of C&C game. But I loved the most Tiberian Sun, RA2 and Generals (with Shockwave mod). Currently, I would get it for $10 only to support Petroglyph. But I would gladly support revival of fallen game called Rise of Immortals (Battle for Graxia). Sadly, it was not that popular back in the day because it had rather steep learning curve. And due to smaller player base, new people often had to play against veterans. Sometimes I had match where 2 newbies left and I still ended up winning with something like 30:1 K/D after 30 minutes. Game did not die of natural causes. Game died because Petroglyph made very bad decision to become very close to LoL. Yes, it became much more newbie friendly. (Very forgiving to stupidity and ignorance of class and role characters had.) But there were no newbies stolen from LoL. Instead older community seen it as betrayal, as it was no longer game we backed up. (Same applies to Paragon. It was doing fine. I loved it, till they broke it on so many levels...) What I like is that matchmaking will have rating for players. We, old dogs, could just jump in and obliterate all the millennials. If they had cross-game multiplayer, like GDI vs Soviets, it would be worth $20 to me. And there is ever present problem with C&C games. They used to be fps limited to 30. I do not mind animations, AI, and objects being refreshed only 30 times per second (original low res animations had 15fps). But there is no reason to tie it to actual viewport of battlefield. Because moving view with 30fps is just stupid. And nobody at EA cared even a bit.

Out of curiosity I just tried the DAO key from my origin account and it comes up as invalid code product, so i would say it's doubtful.

This goes for any game that needs another launcher to be honest. What's point having such games on Steam or EGS when you still need Uplay, Cockstar and Origin?

I was hoping I could just buy it on Steam and not have to deal with Origin but with it how it is there is literally no point for it being on Steam because it still involves Origin.... I no longer purchase games on Origin because I'm sick of it, I've used it since the beginning and dislike it very much so this is just disappointing. But enough about me, you wrote cockstar and this pleases me.

What's Cockstar? Another launcher?!

The dual launcher thing doesn't bug me enough to avoid the games, I just don't see any EA games worth buying over the last few years. I think the last EA games I really enjoyed are Dead Space 2 and Crysis 3. I think I bought DA: Inquisition on Origin, but never installed it...

I'm just glad the CNC Remaster only needs account linking and no Origin installed.

You robbed yourself experiencing a good game then - despite the heat that inquisition got from alot of people, i really liked the game... still do.

Yeah, it launches roosters into the forefront of rock music.
