Anyone able to suggest how a company like EA can actually make a profit from this? They need a constant stream of quality desirable products to entice folk to keep returning to pay the month on month fee and what they have just now is the annual lootbox filled sports titles such as FIFA or the bare bones release now and wait a year till it gets good live service cr*p like Anthem and BF.

Say goodbye to actually owning any product from this branch of entertainment industry once this becumes the norm. The last bastion of this "luxury" is GOG at this point, but even Steam/Origin/Uplay have you download the files to your harddrive (thus having access to them and the ability to use them without the launcher with a crack).

ever since the "digital" download age the line between owning game is has blurred I do have much of issue with "digital" so long as I can take it from pc to pc, but I draw the line at having to subscribe to play games on cloud server. the only exception to that subscribing to game is mmo's. this just another way to take owner ship away from us and make more money from us.

The problem with these cloud/streaming games is that at that point, none of the files will be present on your PC, effectively negating any sort of ownership/control. So say goodbye to modding (unless offered through some "official" channels like the primitive Bethesda creation club) and say goodbye to your games once the service flops. I get that this risk already exists with the majority of digital distributors, but today you still have to download the game to your disk, thus giving you a possible venue to backup the files yourself, and use the to play said games with the help of (for example) cracks.
