Battlefield peaked at BF2 / BF2142. Anything less than a re-hash of that early winning formula of simple fun and easy to mod is a disappointment to me, as a fan of the series from all the way back to the Wake demo. In my eyes, BF has been in complete freefall since BF4. Signed - a person who once bought every BF game on day 1 and now can't be bothered to even look into what BF6 is going to be.

"Unprecedented Scale for a battlefield game" and not like the 1,283 simultaneous players you can have in Planetside 2 in a single map? someone should buy those game rights to look at the code.

"It's not really a secret and unexpected of course, the game arriving this year but the new Battlefield installment will offer a "total military war and will have support for more players than ever. This probably means that the game will be capped at more than 64 players. Also, the title reveal will take place this fall." Didn't Battlefield 2142 already have 128player maps? Or were they modded? BF3 has 128player modded maps. "We look forward to sharing much more about our plans for this new fiscal year in the coming months, including our upcoming Battlefield experience, which will mark a return to all-out military warfare." So... which BF games weren't "all-out military warfare"? “The game takes full advantage of the power of next-generation platforms to bring massive and immersive battles to life with more players than ever before. With maps of an unprecedented scale, the next edition of Battlefield takes all the destruction, vehicles, and combat weapons that the franchise is known for and takes it to another level. " So BF6 will use PS6 and XBOX (whatever comes after SeriesX) and use them close to 100%. Awesome. Ahead of everybody. Again, I'm assuming more than 128 players. I do hope maps will be bigger and more detailed. Biggest map right now is Battle Royale gamemode Halvoy map. I'm assuming bigger than that then. Okay, BFBC2 destruction is finally back and even heavier, cool. It should have been back along long time ago. “The team is focused and the game is ahead of our internal milestones. We will reveal the game in the spring and deliver a defining Battlefield experience for our players in the 2021 holiday season. " I hope they don't release buggy mess then, as they are so ahead of schedule.

I haven't even played any of the existing Battlefield games in the entire lock down for the last year which tells you everything really - found more interesting/rewarding online multiplayer action in games like Apex Legends, Star Wars Battlefront II and even the likes of Fortnite. Actually my 10yo son was only one who liked playing one of them - Battlefield 4 - but only the one map "Seige of somewhere (forget name)" with the twin tower in middle of map. I got sick and tired of getting killed every two minutes in the newer BF games series. Also nothing interesting in old weapons. Seemed it was only fancy skins and nothing else.
So you have a crappy taste in games then. And also suck.

Don't hold much hope, too much woke shit these days (read BF5) and I don't think they've course corrected yet. BF2/2142 and 4 were great. BF3 was loved by some and to me just utterly broken, way too many glitches that could be abused. BF 1 and 5 are just crap. None of it realised properly everything still based off SMG gameplay which made more sense for BF3 and 4 but not for WW1 or 2...

I dearly miss the 2142 era. I'd be floored if anything in a modern/world war game genre could surprise me any more. Give me something imaginative. I can only hope that BF7 might continue the progression forward through time.

Wow getting that hype train started early aren't we. Come on folk do we really expect this game to do anything new? I have some bare minimum requirements to even give this game a look. - Decent anti-cheat system - Decent hit detection system - Decent launch, I don't want to have to wait for four or five patches to get a stable game that actually runs and allows me access first time - Decent progression system, BFBC2 did it well enough, it gave players a wide array of unlockables that as far as I am aware were not locked behind any sort of paywalls or grindfest - Decent set of launch content, i.e I don't want to have to pay for DLC to get two thirds of the final game content. Now looking at the history of the BF games is it possible that the game could really release with ALL of the above?
Forget about it. To support large number of players, they'll likely have a lot of stuff client side. Hacks will happen more than before. BC2 is one of Best BF games out there. It would be nice if they skipped Single Player campaign in this BF and did not invest money in it. (And it would mean that any kind of propaganda would not be part of game.)

Don't underestimate the power of genderfluid LGBTQ+ character selection. Anyway... I used to play alot when I was younger. BF was fun.BF2142 made my heart pump. Every battle was exhilarating. BC2 was the only BF game I bought with my own money although I could have pirated it easily. It was just plain n simple fun. Every map. Last BF game I played was BF3 for a limited time. Idk, everything loses it's charm after a while. I felt kinda bored in that game. BF4 mp I never picked up, but I played the SP campaign. Yawn. Everything after, I stayed away. Watching youtube gameplay videos was enough to make up my mind. But I also play less in general now and often uninstall a new game if it doesn't hook me in the first few hours or gets tedious. I payed Dishonored 2 for 10hours and uninstalled :P I tried Factorio and realized in 10 minutes that shit isn't for me, Plague Tale... 2hours, uninstall. Am I a bad gamer? Absolutely not. I just happened to realize time is precious and most games suck and aren't worth my time. Monologue ends here.

I sure am looking forward to this ! Return to modern day battlefield... has been way too long. Was a huge mistake to do ww2 right after ww1.
Biggest mistake is milking for money with DLC, releasing unfinished buggy products, not supporting private dedicated servers and mods AND, but not least, not caring about the countless cheaters. I bought Battlefield 1 for cheap, like 5€ or so, a couple years back. I love the game, as I've played battlefield since 1942. But I stopped playing, I can't stand cheaters, and when there is a guy doing 120kills dying twice a round, you can't be certain how many more are hidden. I've taken refuge on cooperative games, mainly games that gives no advantage on cheating or am I harmed by it. I think I'll never enjoy a competitive game anymore, the feeling of uncertainty will always be there. PS: I miss the old days with Bad Company 2, when we had servers with admins online and the fight could be fair.

I remember times in CS:S, if you played too good, you got kicked for cheating. Too much skill, must be a cheater.

Early Battlefield games had some of the best custom servers. It was fun just to try out new ones. I recall one of my favorites ended up being across the planet in Europe, but even with a 180 ping, it was worth it for the fun players and the lack of jackasses as there were usually 3-5 admins on at any given time that would quickly ban the obvious jerks. It was a PC forum's server that I posted in, like here.

Please make BC3!!! Enough with WW1 WW2 and the "awesome destruction" of BF4.

BFV was the last straw. Screw EA and Battlefield.

I agree BC2 was literally perfect from game play speed, vehicle balance, gun play, hit detection. Wish BC3 would be much of the same with modern anti cheat system.

As others said, the big, BIG elephant in the room is the anti-cheat. It feels like there is absolutely nothing stopping them in V, since I used to see players with 100+ rank with full store bought skins cheat without a worry in the world, some going as far as to even mocking the other players in chat. Now I know that cheating is a big problem in a lot of modern competitive games, but if a company as big and wealthy as EA is doesn't have the funds and will to fight them, well then it's a lost cause really.

After spending about 100 pounds on BF1 and all the DLC content i fell out of love with the bf franchise and i for the first time ever refused to buy into BFV. Maybe it's the cheaters i don't know but all BF games are pretty good but can they keep you coming back like BF1942/DC BF2 BF4 and BFBC where i put 1000's of hours into them games and just kept going back to them. The only BF game i don't own is BF5 even BF2142 was fun for a while not great but fun. That's the problem with modern BF games which is to say they are very solid fps games but the fun factor isn't there anymore for me, maybe i'm just gettin old. ^^

BF4 was the last for me... I liked it very much despite all it's flaws. I don't think there is anything EA can do to make me want to install origin again, got tricked with the free givaway of Battlefront 2 on epic, no more.. never again.

Great White Shark:

I am looking forward to it too, but only if they have adequate Anti-cheat software installed and we get full up to date reports when people have been banned, because Battlefield 5 was a good game engine, but it was an absolute disgrace allowing hackers/cheaters to ruin the game and they should have been sued by not protecting their customer base.
Had nothing to do with Doing WW2 after 1. BF5 was total trash of a game . Telling your player base "if you dont like it then dont buy it " killed the game off
